On Sept. 19, 1992, Blue Heaven Restaurant cooked and served black beans, rice and fish to its first lunch customers on painted picnic tables under a tropical almond tree in its outdoor dining area in Florida. The outdoor courtyard is paved with the slate pool table tops from the days the downstairs of the building operated as a billiard hall and ice cream parlor. A dance hall, a bordello and a playhouse have occupied the second floor of the restaurant s location. Breakfast items include pancakes, seafood and lobster benedict, granola, omelettes, fruit cups and a la carte items. Lunch items include soups, salads, sandwiches, fish, tortillas, vegetable plates, cheese steak and desserts. Dinner items include a variety of appetizers, shrimp, chicken dinners, pork tenderloin, New York strip steak, tuna, dolphin, beef tenderloin and desserts. The restaurant also has catering and banquet menus available. Blue Heaven Restaurant is located in Key West, Fla.
Amazing! Great food, everything was cooked perfectly. The place has such charm. since the wait is long, there is a great waiting area with a bar, chairs to listen to the band, and a place to play ping pong. Like a backyard BBQ, but much better... pricy, but worth it. A hidden gem!
We only ate dessert (key lime pie) at Blue Heaven...I apologize...'only' shouldn't even be said in the same sentence as that Key Lime Pie. We were expecting something good because we had actually been told by two waiters at another restaurant that 'if you want the best key lime pie, you should go to Blue Heaven'! When another restaurant's waiters think that the competition has the 'best anything' that says a lot. When the work of art (the pie) was delivered to our table, we gasped - then tasted - then gasped again...we had surely found the Best Key Lime Pie! On our next visit to Key West, we plan on sampling the rest of the menu but maybe we'll have another piece of pie first!
This is absolutely our favorite restaurant in Key West! It was recommended several years ago by some friends and we are eternally grateful. We make it a point to go there whenever we are in town. Our last visit we didn't get a chance to go there for dinner and have their fabulous Yellowtail Snapper, so we went for breakfast. Well...we had the lobster benedict - wow was that sinfully delicious!!!! Great food, atmosphere, and service, what more could you want?!
We arrived 30 minutes before opening, however; Scott approached us and convinced us to stay a few minutes until opening with complomentary corn bread, grapes, a game of ping pong ans some ice water. We're glad we waited. The fish, shrimp, and especially key lime pie were delicious. Scott made the difference in the entire meal. He does a wonderful job with his sincere customer service approach Best meal and service of our stay in Key West. Thanks Scott. From the Peak Family in Tampa, Florida
