Finnegan's Wake-Irish Pub
This location brings the spirit of Ireland to the Keys, and keeps it going nearly all night; the pub is open until 4am. Dinner is served until 10pm and after that the bar has its own menu. There are two Happy Hours daily and the libations include 16 beers on tap, bottled beer, liquors, wine, and of course, Irish Coffee. For dinner, you can try Irish specialties like brown bread, Irish stew (USD14), and bangers and mash (USD10). It also serves homemade desserts like the flambeed Hot Banana (USD5).
Finnegan's wake is a great irish pub, wonderful atmospher, cool place to hang and chat over a nice import beer, my favorite is Murphy's Brown Irish beer. It is smooth and has no bitter after taste, the food is excellent and it is hard to choose what to have, so every time i go i try something different. St. Patrick's day i order corned beef 'n' cabbage, another popular is bangers and mash. Words can't really discribe the irish pub, you have to try for yourself.
good food, great irish beer, and reasonable prices. I hope they stay for good.
next time your visiting Key West try Finnegan's Wake and Murphys Brown Irish Beer and their food. ;)
The first time I walked through the doors of Finnegan's Wake I thought I had stepped through a transporter and left Key West for the fair isle of Eirenn. There are old beer signs that hang on the walls, dim lighting is made to look like antique gas fixtures, plenty dark wood panels the walls and, in my opinion, they offer the best selection of beer you can find in Key West. The food is always lipsmacking- I recommend colcannon (mashed potatoes with cabbage and sharp cheddar on top), shephard's pie, galway mussels (served in a bread bowl with a white wine sauce), and the cheddar plate (completed with a ramekin of hot guinness mustard mmmmm!). The potato and leek soup is, by far, the best I've had outside my own kitchen *wink*. I'm running from memory here, but their ale selection includes expected favorites like Guinness, Newcastle and Bass and the less findable treats such as Strongbow Cider, Boddington's, Tetley' and Stella Artois. Try the Black Velvet, in which I believe it is Guinness and Strongbow they mix (if not, it's still good!). In all, I highly recommend. Authentic, tasty, you'll want to sit their for hours enjoying all the pub/restaurant has to offer!
**Interesting note -- Finnegan's Wake is a popular Irish song, the wake being the service held at the death of a loved one where all friends and family came together to eat, drink, and talk about the times**
