Great location. You can walk to charter fishing, diving, several restaurants, tennis, etc.
We stayed in a conch villa. Expensive but worth it. Place is spotless. Service is good to great.
Teen club a hit with preteens but not so good with teens.
Pools are very nice. Lagoon beach is very small but ok.
From the moment i stepped in the reception, i knew i had made the right choice...Hawk's cay exceeded my expectations, as a single traveller, they made me feel very welcome. My room was lovely, overlooking the canal and the sea, it was clean and very roomy. Location was amazing, i mainly spent my time round the adults only pool, which i have to say was so quiet (did the other people go during spring break!?).
I love this place, i even sent some relatives there and they loved it, so much so that the rest of my family are going back this year.
I took my family there and it was wonderful. We stayed in a villa with a small pool outside and we watched the crystal clear tide roll past our back gate. The sealife was brilliant and my husband and son snorkelled right outside our villa. When we wanted to go lie by the pool or eat at the restaurant on site they sent a golf cart to pick us up and deliver us so we didn't have to walk in the hot sun. Everything you need is right there and your close enough to visit Key West and key Largo and just come back to your caribbean style villa with a tin roof and beautiful gardens, front and back porches and balconies and relax while sipping your beverage of choice. Lovely
The resort is very clean, child friendly with plenty for the whole family to do. The restaurants are surperb and the staff very friendly and willing to help in any way. We stayed at a villa on the resort overlooking the water with a full kitchen for when you wanted to eat in. There are plenty of activities to keep everyone busy. My daughter enjoyed the dolphin encounter and my small son loved the pirate ship and water guns located in one of their five pools. They cater to all ages with many options. Also beautiful spa and can be a very relaxing getaway. Alittle costly but well worth every penny spent. We are so looking forward to going back. I highly recommend this little piece of heaven for anyone looking to get away to the keys and have a wonderful time with or without a family!
We chose to stay here last minute and had no way of viewing any other review, much to our loss! I agree with the person who said they were out to get every cent they could. They even put bottled water in the bathroom for a charge of $5.00 a bottle....a quart bottle but $5.00, come on. The room smelled musty. The only water view was of the canel which you could see only where out by the pool, stood up and walked to the edge of the grass. The adult pool - which we never used - was full of loud mouthy teenagers (parents no where in sight). For the $200 and night you got a bed and a cake of soap and a view of the parking lot. We would never stay here again and do not recommend it for any reason, I would not stay here even if the rate were better.
This was my first trip to Florida. And it was wonderful. The atmosphere is awesome. It's such a relaxing place. There is more than one pool and there is a lagoon as well to swim in. That was interesting. The restaurants were fabulous and drinks were to perfection. There was enough to keep us busy. There were things to do at night around the resort and there are places close to the resort to do as well. The fitness center and kids area is very conveinent. We stayed in a villa. It had 2 bedrooms, a kitchen, bathroom, and the pool was right out the back door. It is somewhere I could definitely live.
I recommend this place to couples who want to get away for romance and for families who want to show their kids a beautiful part of Florida. It's a great place to make memories. There was honestly nothing that I didn't like about this place. The value for what we got is worth going to Hawk's Cay Resort frequently. It is a place for the young and old, the new honeymooners and ones reliving it.
We booked our entire 12 day travel plan online: airline, rental car, different hotels throughout the state, and Hawks Cay. Don't know if I made the mistake or if Hawks Cay online system made the mistake, but my reservation was booked for one month earlier than our trip (the only reservation this happened with). Hawks was great upon our arrival, and they got us a room (for HUNDREDS of dollars MORE per night than the online booking). Came home to discover that Hawks had still dinged our credit card for the reservation booked online. After WEEKS of trying to talk with them, they finally called to say, Too bad so sad.
Ultimately, our $300/night rate cost us $700/night. And Hawks Cay basically told me that I'm sol.
GREAT customer service. Maybe I made the mistake on the reservation. Maybe their online system failed. They told me in no uncertain terms that clearly this was my fault. I told them that I'm choosing to believe it was their online system, and that I shouldn't have to pay for THEIR mistake. After all, I did show up, and I did pay them a greatly increased fee.
I will NEVER recommend this place to friend nor foe. And I will find every public venue that I can to warn others.
