Fabulous Time!!
By ,
Just got back from Hawk's Cay for a family spring break vacation. We are already planning next years trip back!!! Great place for families, honeymooners, conventions, just about anything. Read previous reviews and am glad that I did not let them scare me off. Stayed in a villa (pricey but worth every penny), we extended our vacation by another 3 nights because we were enjoying ourselves so much. It is truly a Caribean experience state side!! Hate to give such great reviews because we want to make sure that there is availability for next spring. Hotel rooms are going through extensive renovations and are expected to be greatly improved so don't let that cloud your decision for future travels to Hawk's Cay!!

stay at home
By ,
This place was a huge waste of time and money. We spent 3000 dollars on 5 nghts here and I have never felt more ripped of. Our room stunk, the decor was like something you would see in a seedy freeway motel, and the bathroom sink smelt like sewage every time we ran the water. Staff were rude, food over priced and average. Nothing to do for adults at night. An automatic gratuity is added to every meal and drink purchased which is prob the reason the staff really don't care, they get their tip regardless. Construction was going on right on peak season so don't expect to sleep in. Noisy, nothing in the room worked and to to top it all off we came back to our room to find the door had been left open all day by the cleaner. Go somewhere else, there are much better places in the keys to stay.

amazing.
The resort it self was amazing, but the friendliness of the people that work and even VISIT there was lovely. There wasn't a single moment of discomfort the entire time I stayed there.

Great place. Everything you need is right there. Just park, walk, and enjoy. the wild life, birds, the dolphins. Seeing how clear the water was. You could see the fish swimming around. Just a great experience.

Very disappointed
By ,
We paid $450 a night for a 2 bedroom villa. The advertising is deceiving- there is no beach available. The lobby was musty and the overall property needs updating. The main building looks like a very old Holiday Inn. There is not much to do except for the younger childrens age group. The water view from the main pool is of the well traveled bridge to the key. I am not a fussy traveler but this was very disappointing. I will say the staff was pleasant and the food was good. Parents should be aware that there are no lifeguards. My husband and I pulled a drowning toddler from the pool and were shocked with how poorly the resort was prepared to deal with the incident. Fortunately a guest at the pool was properly trained in CPR.

Go to Marathon - stay out of Hawk's Cay
By ,
Hawk's Cay is located on the outskirts of Marathon. It is approximately 10 miles to town. Too far to drive. You are not told that online nor on the website. The rooms were not top shelf nor clean. The staff was mostly foreign. English not being their first language. I was told to ask for a professional waiter at the Cantina named Jay but it seems he was not employed there any longer so I did not have the benefit of his expertise. The dolphins were great but the price was too high. Dolphin Research Center is two miles away (Towards Marathon going south) and I would recommend that instead. To the head of sales: This place is very misleading. I'll tell all who ask.

3rd visit
By ,
Pros: great location, nice facilities, great for small kids, staff generally helpful, dolphins neat to watch, well maintained grounds, rooms adequate (we don't spend a lot of time in them), adult pool nice and quiet, good value if you shop on line and get a good rate, guests typically well mannered (we've been to other resorts where kids were out of control). Cons: Rooms are not of luxury resort standard (but then again we just in them at night), food is average and expensive (best to eat off the resort), main pool crowded, service in restaurants is very mixed (gratuity is included so staff have no incentive to offer good service), extras are expensive. If you go to Hawk's Cay to be pampered, you will be disappointed. However, we have always had a very good time and are looking forward to our next trip.
