Michaels Restaurant, Key West

Overrated and over priced but sadly enough still the best food in Key West. If you're looking for good food the beach areas in the Clearwater area have some of the best food on the planet. I lived in Key West for one year and found thye food just ok at best.

our first visit to KW & our friends took us here for Sunday Brunch - WHAT A GREAT EXPERIENCE!! Service was excellent, food was wonderful, Mimosas with breakfast was a great idea! It will be your loss if you do not have a meal here!

This spot came highly recommended and I had high expectations going in. The ambience and service were wonderful. Unfortunately, though, the food was just average. I had an asparagus salad appetizer which was OK but nothing special. For my entree I had snapper in a dill sauce which was unimpressive. In fact, I did not even finish my fish. My wife had the filet and did not find it to be all that good. I was in a party of 8... the rest of the group had nothing but good to say, so I will try it again. I am hoping for a better showing next time.

Michaels is a small restaurant, FULL of charm, with an intimate atmosphere. It's located inside one of the older homes, with the bar outside on a weathered deck, & a few small outdoor dining tables. The people are friendly & welcoming. Even though it's comparable to easily a 3-4 star place anywhere else in the world, you can easily go on Key West Casual dress, meaning pretty much anything goes from shorts & flip flops, jeans & t shirts, to suits & dresses. The food is to die for. The sea scallops in a port wine reduction sauce with brie was like a taste of Heaven. The portions are large enough to feed a starving soul, but make sure to make room for their signature dessert, the Flaming Volcano! It's light & airy, but so good it's downright sinful! The ice cream is made in house, by hand, & there's just nothing that compares. Breyers, eat your heart out!

Prime, aged beef! Excellent spinach salad! Fantastic volcano dessert! Excellent food, fantastic service, wonderful atmosphere. Simply the best restaurant I have ever been too, and I travel world-wide 3-4x per year (for the last 25+ years). We ate at Michaels 3 times and sampled almost the entire menu. Besides the above, the seafood was fresh, the portions were huge, the sauces, well, incredible. The chef, Michael, even popped out to check the floor all three nights we were there!!! The outdoor section ws great, but the indoor area was also very comfortable. As for price, you get much more than you pay for!!
