Conch Republic Seafood Company
The Conch Republic Seafood Company offers a great open-air waterfront view of the Key West Bight and some of the freshest seafood available, but this is not the main draw. Most visitors come for the 80-foot long rum bar, shaped like a boat, which claims to be the largest between Miami and Cuba. You can select from oysters, clams, mussels or shrimp from the raw bar, or dine on Bahamian-Style Cracked Conch, Grilled Tuna Steak or Black Angus steak. For dessert, try the Chocolate Rum Cake with white chocolate glaze.
We arrived around 2pm for a late lunch and after waiting a few minutes for the hostess, they seated us at a dirty table, with her solution being to brush the crumbs off and proceed. Our waiter was painfully slow but our 10 yr old daughter was completely amazed by the live music( a gentleman playing steel drums) and the huge fish tanlks by our table. Althought slow, the food arrived just as ordered and simply delicious. A bit pricey for the type of food, but their quality is top notch.
And the view of the harbor makes for a very nice overall experience.
Saw the waiter three times while we were there. Once to take our order, once to drop off the bill, and once to bring it back. Never took a drink order - I had the same drink that I had bought at the bar while we were waiting for a table. Food was OK. We had better food down on Duvall St. You pay for the location, but aren't rewarded with a semi-enjoyable dining experience.
Great bartenders, food, entertainment!! They have the best mojitos every in any flavor imaginable. Frozen rum runner is great too. You have to kick the normal drink of choice and try the island drinks! It's Key West - but don't expect anyone in the North to know how to make a mojito!! If you are like me and leave the kids at home; sit at the bar on one side of the fish tank, the kids are on the other side of the fish tank in the dining room and nearly invisible. We had dinner here once in few years ago and not too impressed with the ambiance until we sat at the bar. This is a completely different feel than the dining room. A must for us everytime we visit. Going back in Nov. 05 and NYE!
Great location with parking. Look for coupons before you go. Many coupons for free drinks or free food. The food is good, but the location is nice. The harbor gives lots ot look at. Has live bands. The drinks are good but very costly. My mojito was ten dollars.
This restaraunt has the worst seafood I've ever put in my mouth. We waited for 10 minutes to get served our drinks and menus. I ordered the crab cakes and my fiance ordered the dolfin. When our food finally came, the crab cakes were 90% bread and 10% something else, which bared no resemblance to tasting or looking like crab meat, and yet was somehow completely FULL of crab shell! My conch soup was watery, contained old and microscopic pieces of conch and smelled strogly of fish. My fiance's fish was undercooked and did not smell or taste good. The waiter never refilled our drinks and never came to ask us how we liked our food. I'll never eat there again. It was a complete waste of money.
