This is a favorite day trip for Miami and Fort Lauderdale diners in search of Keys ambience and top-notch cooking. Folks come from miles around to dine on a menu of seafood, although there are plenty of other options if you prefer something more terrestrial. Start with Cured Nova Scotia Salmon (USD11) followed by it with the daily catch (USD19-25). This attractive location overlooks the Florida Bay and the sunsets are spectacular; it all adds up to a wonderful dining experience. A full wine selection is available.
Everytime we go, I find a new dish that I just love. Always good food and great ambiance. It is a must when you come down to the Keys. I live here and I love to take my family and friends here every chance I get. You have to try it, having dinner right on the water, I mean right on the water. It is such a wonderful place to eat.
MM88 gives you a great taste of bayside dining in the Keys. Although the original bar was blown away in last years (2005) hurricane, and new bar is already in place, and the food is better than ever. (The restaurant itself didn't suffer much damage). The restaurant offers a great view of the famous Keys sunset, particularly if you walk out onto the end of the dock. You can come by car (Mile Marker 88), or by boat (N24 58.315 W80 33.504). All you can eat stone crab is a must!
This is a special find. We were on our way down through the keys and would have missed the place if we didn't look closely enough. It doesn't look like much from the road and the sign is not easy to see, but don't be dismayed by this. The food is absolutely superb. We were in a group of 6 and none of us walked out disappointed, from tasty salads to seafood entrees... and the views are great too. It was too cold to eat outside, but I can see how this would be a special spot on a warm evening, eating out under the stars, al fresco!
We spent more money at other places during our trip but Marker 88 gave us the best meal / night. As we dined, we watched the sunset and beautiful colors burst into the sky. Our 3 yr old daughter was delighted to play with the sand and small rocks on the beach area. The food was delicious, and the Key Lime pie was the best yet here. Compliments to the chef! The service was prompt and friendly. Other patrons looked really happy and seemed to enjoy the atmosphere as well.
I visited marker 88 for dinner and the service was great and the food was excellent it is definatley a place to recomend for a wedding reception. I look forward to going back for winter of 06. Apparently this is a place that the president eats at as his pictures adorn the wall. I am very pleased to say that I am a happy costumer of marker 88
