My family and I went to the Florida Keys for our vacation this year. We tried all of these really nice, expensive fresh seafood restaurants. Then on our 4th day there we went to the Hungry Tarpon. THE FOOD WAS AMAZING!!!! I got lobster thermador, and it was the best lobster i have ever had in my life! And ive had my fair share of lobster. And everyone else in my family said it was the most amazing food they had all vacation!! It was so good that we went back and ate there another time! And the man that owns it (whos also the chef) is one of the nicest guys ive ever met! He is such a sweety! I know that when we go back there for vacation we will eat there all the time!! I would recommend this to everyone!!!!!!!!!!! When we came back from vacation i couldnt stop talking about the food and the nicest person we met there!!!
What a wonderful find. My husband and I (on holiday from England)were told about this place by the staff at our hotel - We arrived for breakfast which was beautiful. We were so impressed we came back for evening meal the following evening. The head cheff was not on duty but we had the most fabulous meal anyway which I will remember for a long, long time. Excellent in every way and was a lovely memory from our holiday in Florida, I hope we will visit again.
My wife and I ate breakfast there a few years ago. I had fresh fish and eggs and it was tremendous for a local breakfast joint. Great place to stop on the way from the mainland to Key West for a bite to eat and stretch the legs.
I'm sorry to hear that Rachelle Fortman from Dayton, OH had a bad experience because I've never had one at the Hungry Tarpon over the years. The place is small, but that is one of the enduring things about it. If it's crowded and you have to wait, just relax, you're in the Keys! I've never had bad service, and the food is always excellent. I don't think it's an exceptional value, because not much in the Keys is, but it is reasonable for the area.
I especially like breakfast here with any of their Breakfast Burritos, the Hungry Permit, and the Grits and Grunts being my favorites. Stop, relax, enjoy, it's excellent!
