Mott Street Chinese Restaurant, Hallandale Beach

Have heard many things about Mott Street Chinese Restaurant from a loyal patron of theirs. On my second visit, ordered sweet and sour chicken. Took a bite out of the chicken (minus the sauce) and got a VERY pungent taste in my mouth (the chicken was bad). After spitting it out in my napkin, I tried another piece (just to see if it was me or what!) and once again found myself spitting it out. I informed the waitress immediately. She questioned me as if I was nuts, I showed her my napkin to prove to her that I found the chicken bad and she called another waitress over in shock implying that there was nothing wrong with their chicken! Needless to say, that was the last time I'll ever be a patron in their restaurant....

The food was bland, and the soup was weak. We ordered off the lunch menu, but when the bill arrived they charged for all dinner portions. Instead of the $11 is should have been, the bill was $17. We called the owner over to explaind they overcharged, and were advised we received the larger plate. We tried to tell her that we got the soup and rice with lunch, not the dinner one. She would not budge so we asked to speak to the server who said she would adjust the bill. As 90% of the food was not consumed, we were taking it with us, and were told we could not as we did not pay for it. In the end we paid for a lunch we never ate, nor took with us. The owners need lessons in customer service, and a more open ear in listening to their employees.

This was the first chinese rest we went to when we moved here. The place is small and not asthetically pleasing, but the food makes up for it.
