Grampa's Bakery & Restaurant, Dania

If you are in the area, Grampa's is a must for breakfast. Their home made bread for the French toast makes Texas Toast bread look like Wonder bread. The service is great, prices are reasonable and try to get out of their without getting something from the bakery. If you can, you have excellent willpower. I hope to be in the Fort Lauderdale area again so I can go back their for breakfast again.

I've been in Dania for 30 years. I've eaten here at least a hundred times but haven't eaten there since the service and quality of food plummeted years ago when the son in law or grandson, which ever he is, took over. I also use to order bakery products for years everyday for take out for the office. I started consistently getting stale bakery products. I found out through one of the employees that they save their bakery products, including rolls, for days until they either sell them or they get hard as a rock. Last time I actually ate there, I had biscuits and gravy. The gravy had chopped up arteries in it. It was, to say the least, GROSS! After getting it that way twice in a row, I stopped eating there. The service is provided from untrained, unmanaged girls or older women with the same background of training. My family has been in a successful business for over 40 years. I've know for a fact that if you pay for advertising in a local rag or paper, they promote your business as being the best in town. That's what's going on here and the newspapers that hawk this most undesirable joint. Very low class, dingy and dirty feeling. If only someone with talent and a work ethic would open a real breakfast place in Dania, they would make out like the Count of Monte Cristo!

I normally go in and eat in. Whenever we go, we know we are going to get great food and usually terrible terrible service. That was of course until we were sat in Denise s section. She is amazing and the only good server in the place!!! I am not writing this review on the in house but more the take out. I convinced my boss one Sunday to order breakfast from here for the office (we were on a deadline and needed to start the work week early). I called personally and placed the order. About 25 mins later he went and picked up the food and EVERY SINGLE order was wrong except for 2 (we ordered about 7 meals). We ordered breakfast so they sent danishes which is usually a good thing, HOWEVER, they sent them loose in a PLASTIC BAG, along with loose COLD biscuits and packets of butter and ketchup. Yes, you read that correctly, it looked like a bag of garbage with everything thrown together. It was absolutely DISGUSTING and UNSANITARY (we have the picture to prove it). I was appalled, especially since I recommended the breakfast place. When I called to complain I was placed on hold for over 5 minutes until some young man answered and said he was the manager (laughing while he spoke to me), I called him out on his laughter and placed me on hold and disconnected me. When I called back he answered again and I explained to him that I knew he wasn t the manager. He passed me over to another girl who finally told me the manager would call me back as soon as could that they were very busy. That was 5 days ago and never received ONE call. I am extremely disappointed with the service in this place AND the lack of manners from the employees which after seeing that the manager didn t even have the decency to all me back, it makes more sense. How can you expect good service from employees when their leader is completely unprofessional and doesn t follow up with his dissatisfied customers. I will never ever recommend this place to ANYONE EVER AGAIN. This is the 4th time I recommend them and they have fallen short EVERY SINGLE TIME!!!

The place is clean.. The busboys are sloppy at times and the food is average.
