Ok I have to write about our experience at coconuts, which totally ruined my husbands 50th birthday. I had planned his birthday on May 16th because our favorite local band would be there. I called coconuts a week prier to make reservations since there would be such a large group. I was put on hold, then told that they only do reservations INSIDE not OUT. I told him that I did not want to do that because we wanted to hear the band. I informed the person on the line I was expecting 30-40, all I was told that it was first come first serve outside. I did inform him that it was for my husbands 50th birthday and all he said was ok.
The night of the party FRANK was the manager on duty and was the rudest person I have ever had to deal with. He approached me and told me that I was being charged $10 a cake(my friend made 4) and that I cost him business. (Just because they have cake on the menu does not mean that everyone would order a slice.) This was not true, the place was NOT packed and there were even tables empty. Most of my friends traveled from almost an hour away.
The moment the first of my friends arrived there where NO others waiting for tables. By 9 pm most everyone EXCEPT our party was gone. Before he approached me he had went to each and every table harassing others about whose party it was.
One of my friends who arrived first was approached by Frank when she walked in with balloons. He managed to tell grill her about having a party without informing him. She told him that I had called and was just told it was first come, first served. If they do not make reservations what is the point in telling him? He actually said to her- So you chose to come anyway? What is that supposed to mean? Take our group of 30 people and leave? I have never been treated like that in my life. The person who answered the phone was given the information. When I told Frank I had called, I was told, Well you misunderstood. Misunderstood what?
Soon after another party in the group was charged an 18% tip on his tab. I know that this is normal as some restaurants with a large party. BUT he was the only one charged at the table he was sitting at. Again Frank showed up and made things worse.
Frank has caused Coconuts to lose many customers. The band played until 11 but at 9, 90% of us has left, discussed ed by his behavior and attitude. He caused all of our party to leave, all were drinking, so the profits lost after 9 where his fault. He really needs some sort of manager training. We will NOT be back.
The waiter and waitress where wonderful, but the food was just ok. Just a warning, no one plan a party there, they will NOT accommodate you.
