Fancy place, nice food presentation. Uses only real crab and not imitation crab, which I prefer imitation. The tempura shrimp in the dragon roll was way over cooked. The shrimp was dark brown and very crunchy and not golden and flaky. And WAY too expensive. Payed $66 between my wife and I. Got the same amount for cheaper at Siam Orchid.
I've dined here numerous times over the last few years and have always been happy with the quality of the food and the service. It has always been a bit pricey but never had a bad meal. I will sometimes order take out and order the exact same thing each time. I was very surprised and disappointed to learn that my order had been increased by $7.00. An increase of over 30%. Needless to say I am now looking for another Japanese restaurant. Pricey is one thing. Gouging is another.
This was truly one of the best dining experiences I have had in a while and it was quite a find. Yes the sashimi was great, but the menu is so much more.
The sushi menu is rich and deep, but even if you think raw fish is bait ... the grill items were fantastic. BTW the portions aren’t artistic they could please Nero Wolfe. Often you see menus like this, with so many choices that sound so good ... you think, now way can they make all this variety well ... they can! They had a dish called Crab Crusted Mahi-Mahi ... wow! If you don’t believe me, their menu is online at their website.
I can't say it will be there when you go but they had a green tea ice cream tempura the night I was there ... it was like an Iron Chef dish ... you hear the name, you think ... could that really be good ... and then you see the face of the person eating it and think I want to try it ... the difference is at Haru, you are the one with that face savoring a unique experience.
This place is as real as it gets. The sushi here is the best and the prices are a little high, but worth it for what you get. The atomosphere is really nice and decor is superb. I would recommend this place to any sushi lover. Once you eat here you won't eat anywhere else. They also serve other japanese type dishes that taste great besides the sushi for any one who does not like sushi.
If you have tried Japanese food before and do not like it, you need to try it at Haru. They step outside the typical Japanese fare and create fresh and meticulously prepared specialties that everyone will enjoy. Each dish is beautifully presented and delicious.
This is my personal favorite sushi restaurant when it is just me and my wife. Very nice atmosphere inside, dark and more romantic. Can be loud due to drinking, and the sushi is more pricey than anywhere else in the county nearly, but it is well worth it. They have such a variety of rolls on the menu. We have not honestly got to try them all yet! Definitely love the Godfather roll! You HAVE to try it. Just bring a good credit card, cause it is going to cost a bundle.
i graduated culinary school and I have been working there before, and many high end restaurant. try to helping new owner out by trying to get more ppl in there but how they gonna get more ppl in there because everything is been frozen, I try to tell them let replace the frozen food to fresh homemade but they refuse..even vegetables for babimbub Korean dish been frozen for mo., mash potatoes are frozen , fish( salmon, grouper, mahi and tilapia sold as snapper!!! ) been thraw out in microwave to order. I try to tell them that not the right way to do things..they don t care....why you pay so much money to eat there if you can buy the same food at walmar or public in frozen section !!!!! they r Chinese and they like to do things their way ...this is the second restaurant in melbourne that have Chinese owner that I working with and they all use microwave to thaw out the fish, steak and everythings !!!!! thinks twice and good luck!!
