Invited by a friend from Church. I had read that their Greek Salads were great and Gyros. So I had my heart set on ordering these exact items. I ordered the combo plate with Gyro and half plate of Greek Salad. The Waite staff was nice enough and friendly. Service was quick and efficient. I was pleased with the amount of lamb meat on the Gyro and the sauce was tasty. But it did not Wow me...just a regular Gyro..nothing really special. The Greek Salad is what was so disappointing. Lettuce, with two slices of cucumber, one small olive, one small pepperoncini, 3 thinly sliced tomatoes..and feta cheese…very little dressing, if any. This had to be the worst Greek Salad I have ever had in my past memory. Tuscany Grill has one to die for..lots of all the good stuff, great dressing..etc. To say I was disappointed was an understatement.
I can't recall the last time I had Greek food. It had to have been at least 9 or 10 years ago. I had a gyro, and I don't remember whether I liked it, but it had to have left at least a bad impression because I haven't had Greek food since then.
My coworkers decided we would have Greek food today as a group. Fine; I'm up for some diversity in food every once in a while. There was 11 of us. That place wasn't designed to accommodate such larger parties; we ended up being sat right next to the entrance of the single-serve counter, where the waitresses traffic.
They've got fresh soup of the day, an excellent salad precursor, and I won't lie; the gyro was excellent. I got the lamb; not as much meat as the chicken or beef, but the pita bread more than made up the space in the bottomless pit I call my stomach. They have a pretty diverse menu, and if I ever go back I'll be sure to experiment with something else.
All in all, a good place to go for lunch or dinner. Don't bring crowds, as the (mainly) senior citizen clientelle will give you dirty looks for occupying their space.
We arrived Monday night for our winter season in Florida. Very hungry, we decided to run down to the Rainbow for a quick dinner. We had eaten there many times before, but had never been disappointed with the food quality, as we were this time. The Greek salad was the worst part of the meal. The feta cheese was salty and smelled funny. The soup tasted good but there were lumps of corn starch in it. The waitress was nice and professional but the manager was on the computer the whole time we were there. He didn't even greet us until we approached him when we were leaving. We heard him complaining about us just having soup and salad. This place has gone so far downhill - what a shame.
