Great waterfront dining at Melbourne Harbor
The Chart House is a Melbourne institution. Besides offering a decent sized steak and seafood menu, the salad bar offers high quality, fresh items, some of them unusual. These items include cavier (and the traditional trimmings), hearts of palm, and artichokes, and freshly made Caesar salad. Salad bar is $4 with a meal, about $12 without.
The fruits also make a good dessert if you want to be good. If you want to be bad, try the lava cake, or mud pie.

The $10 to $20 price shown on the main page here is deceptive. Expect to spend between $30 and $50 per person unless you really scrimp. One good way to do that is to split and entree, and one person gets the salad bar with the add on, and the other orders it as a meal. I got out for under $50 for two that way.
