We were staying the night in Melbourne to catch a flight out the next day and went to this Vietnamese Restaurant. It has horrible service and the waiters were all rude and they charged us all wrong! When we pointed out the mistake on the bill to them, they claimed to have changed it and put the amt back on our credit card. They were rude about trying to fix this mistake. We counted for them the number of bowls we ordered and the number of bowls recorded on the bill which didn't match up at all. Even though they gave us the credit back receipt the credit card bill is still showing the wrong charge! Stay away! Food wasn't all that great either. The rudest bunch we've ever met!
We eat there almost weekly since it opened and find the food to be good and priced right. Have never had any problems with the waiters but sometimes I do have a problem understanding him. We do tip 20% because they make sure our water glass is always full & checks back often to see if we need anything. Great place!
I had a bowl of noodle. Half an hour later I started to get sick from MSG. Then I knew why the food was so good. It's load with MSG. The waiter ( grumpy old man) is not nice and kind of rude. He seemed to annoy when we requested something a little different from the menus since we have to look out for the allergy stuffs.
We don't plan to go back any time soon unless this guy is out.
This place is now called Pho Cali. The food is very good vietnamese food. My only complaint is the prices are a little high. I'm used to getting a bowl of bun or pho for like 5 bucks instead of 6 - 10 from when i lived in California. My absolute favorite thing to get there is the number 1. It's an appetizer dish of 2 differnt types of spring rolls, fried shrimp, and egg rolls (8 items total). The bowls of pho are huge, as are the bowls of bun. The employees are very friendly, and it is a clean place. Not to mention the Cafe sua dua is good too! Other places i've been too have used way too much condensed milk and it's more like a syrup than an iced coffee.
If I could make any suggestions to changeing this place, it would be just adding more vietnamese dishes to the menu. Most of the places i've been to here in florida don't offer Chao Ga - a chicken rice porridge (soup) which is absolutely delicious, a pork dish that involves whole hard boiled eggs, which actually uses coconut soda in the broth - very good as well. My mother-in-law spoiled me with her home cooked vietnamese dishes. All in all, if you're in the mood for a bowl of pho or bun, this is a great place to go.
Pho is good, but can't say that about the service. The host there looks very unfriendly, or grumpy even. Started to sweep the floor when I was still sitting at the table. We are not going back, even though we love the pho they served.
