Without seeing the sign and actually walking into this restaurant one would assume that it is closed. The dark reflective tint on the windows block any sight of activities. Understandable, since the restaurant faces Kirkman Rd. and the beating afternoon Florida sun.
It is an expansive open dining room with hues of Latin colors. The tables were white linen and butcher paper with standard paper napkins. There is no host so a server nodded to an empty table. Several minutes later…..okay forever later a server walked over and asked for a drink order at the same time handing us menus. Okay, maybe they were busy. Not really, more like unorganized. Order placed, beer took forever to arrive. Frosted mug, had a bad odor. Food was delivered by another server. During the entire meal our server was more interested in talking and interacting with the other servers or what was going on outside the front door than our table. There seem to be a common thread among service staff to avoid interacting with guest at all cost. I even observed a server at a table pretending to listen to the guest while rolling his eyes at the other server. Another server was more focused on changing the track blasting Latin music. Did not seem like any staff wanted to be there. Poor showing on all levels.
The rotisserie chicken was cooked perfectly. Seasoning was spot on. Very flavorful, juicy and moist. Rice and beans was okay. Skirt steak was a perfect balance of flavoring. The chimichurri was definitely bursting with flavors. Yuca fries were crisp yet tender inside. Good down to earth food. Nice portion size. They have a Peruvian beer, Cusquena, not bad at all. Medium body, nice balance.
If the server remembered we ordered another soup, it would have been somewhat decent. Then again, if we weren’t given someone else’s check it would have been okay too. Oh, I can’t go on…..Arrogance comes to mind. Food was okay, service was an embarrassment to the Orlando tourism industry. Shame on you to represent Orlando.
This restaurant at THIS location is wonderful. We have eaten at the location close to our house on the South Orange Blossom Trail many times over the years, but we gave up eating there because the service had gotten absolutely awful. We tried this location tonight and our dinner was perfect. Our drink glasses never got under half-full and the food was wonderful. I told the manager that they needed to give the location near our house some lessons and he told me that it had a different owner. That makes a BIG difference apparently. I guess from now on, when I get a taste for their chicken, we will just drive twice as far because it would seem to be worth it.
the food is good specally the chcken but some of the servers are really rude and don't show respect to the costumers maybe they are trainees or something... i went one night with my famly and I ask to change some food because it looked not good to me and the server reply to me saying that it was ok and he didn't gve me the reason he had to ask the manager to give me the reason change that guy please i like your chicken
I am in Orlando for business on a regular basis and stumbled upon Pio Pio one eveing. I absolutely loved the restaurant...great food, excellent service and nice, quaint atmoshere. The Red Snapper is fried and served whole. I didn't realize that I was ordering an entire fish but it was so fresh and delicious that I have taken guests there and suggested this place to many more. Hope they are around for a lonf time...great value!
I can't tell you enough how good the food is. Whenever I am in Orlando I have to go or my trip is not complete. The service is the best. I love Pio Pio so much that they are catering my rehearsal dinner for me.
The resturant is small but it works well. Great family place to go.
I have been coming to Pio Pio for over a year and it is the best. Everything about the place is top notch. You get friendly service and the food- well you will want to order more just to take it home for tommorrow.
