K Restaurant & Wine Bar, Orlando

We decided to try this place because of the great reviews. The restaurant is charming and the service was great. The food taste likes it is made from scratch. However, we could not enjoy our food selections because most them were way too salty. I noticed that other reviewers have said the same thing. I would love to return because everything else was great. I understand the great reviews for the restaurant it self. However, I don't understand the high ratings for the food.

Pros: Menu is great. Wine list is great. Cons: When making reservations the hostess never told us that they had moved? A James Beard nominee serving a cold lamb rack to a two top? You cant serve a cold entree to a two top.

Apr 2007-For the pricing on the menu, I expected fine dining. Entrees range $25-$30. We were greeted by a curt host, followed by an equally impersonal waiter. I ordered the vine ripened tomato salad to start. What came out was a small tomato cut in quarters over goat cheese that was in desperate need of salt. I could buy better tomatos at Publix, but instead I paid over $10 for a small tomato, a few pine nuts and micro greens, which were definitely micro. I also tried the lump crab cake and the bison. Whatever lump crab was in the cake was overpowered by the raw red onion on top (on the menue as apple and fennel slaw). Hours after the meal I'm still tasting the onion. The bison, ordered rare, was so tough my jaw is soar. While the flavor was good, the meat itself was far from tender and certainly not worth the $30 price tag. Service was poor and overall the dining experience was lackluster and not of value. Other reviewers say it's the friendliest wait staff in town...they must have been off the night I was there. I'm glad I didn't bring friends and I would certainly not recommend it to others.

K Restaurant is by far the best restaurant in Orlando. We have so many chains and test restaurants, it is great to find a place that has a frequently changing menu but with the same amazing quality and taste no matter what you get. I am typically a very picky eater and won't try things I am not familiar with, but I am willing to step out and try just about anything at K because I know I will not be dissapointed. This is the best special occasion restaurant you can go do....I have been for four birthdays in the past three months and look forward to going again soon!

The food is absolutely amazing! The staff was probably the friendliest staff I have encountered in my many years of dining. The artwork hung around the dining room makes the ambience even better. My wife and I enjoyed all of the items that we ordered and especially enjoyed the wine menu. We are so glad that we just happened upon this restaurant and can not wait to go back.

Quite simply still the best. The cheese selections amazing, don't skip on this, especially paired with a nice wine. The apetizers are incredible, the beef carpacio is a must try, and awesome salads that you'd be hard pressed to try to repeat at home, and of coarse consistently amazing entrees.

K is my most favorite place to eat at in Orlando. As I step foot in the door I am greated personally by every employee. The menu for lunch or dinner is amazing. I have experienced the entire menu as I frequent the restaurant multiple times a week. I have all of the executives of the company I work for in love with the food/service there also. If you want to go out to a great meal this is the place to go! The entire staff has done nothing but cater to any needs I might have. F.Y.I. I have not chose my own order in months I always let the staff choose what I am going to be having, and have never been disapointed.

Are these other two reviews accurate or did I go to a different restaurant. My is more up to date as of Jan 21, 2006. I had one of the worst dining experiences ever. I'm glad my wife and I went alone and didn't take friends. The service was horrible and the food choices nor its taste were that complimentary. The only thing they got right was the valet parking. They should have moved him inside to wait the tables. The Chicken Poussin was very strong in hickory value, such that I would opted out on that choice. The standard Filet Mignon was cooked more than the rare my wife ordered. The atmosphere is not the quiet, pleasurable one you would expect in College Park. Very loud and noisy. I was looking for a way out so we didn't even order dessert and coffee.

K used to be, by far, my favorite restaurant. The food has always been good and Kevin's menu rotations are always interesting. Unfortunately, the last two times I have been there I have had to wait for a table over an hour past my reservation time, and the service appears to be severly understaffed (although they are all very nice and knowledgable). I'm afraid K has become a victim of it's own success. I'll give them one more shot, but if the service is as bad as it has been, it will be my last. C'mon Dan - hire more people!
