I went to sonny's for the first time a couple days ago. I'm in the area visiting my son. I thought it was very tasty and worthy of another visit at another time. The only two gripes I had were that the atmosphere was a little dull and the ribs should of been meatier. Overall it was not bad for the price though!
Nope sorry guys, its only gotten worse. came here last year, got cold, wet food, poor service as in slow delivery.I only dared go tonight as My husband wanted BBQ. We were very close to this restaurant and against my instincts, I thought i would give it another try after 10 months of avoiding this location.
We should have gone to Denny's.
My corn fritters got delivered to another table. Our only starter btw.I saw the waitress deliver to another table as it was in my line of sight and not aware she had done so til over five minutes later, saw her go back, talk to the people, pick the food up and bring it to our table.Laughing that she had delivered it to the wrong table. dropped that on the table and walked away.Obviously that was unacceptable. But she never returned to us until our main course came, so I would hardly want a replacement at that point.
My Dixie burger was supposed to be medium rare, it was shoe leather well done.I tried to eat it as I was not confident i could get a replacement in a timely manner and in fact she didn't come for another 10 minutes.I could have made a scene, but chose not to.The french fries were good tho and the diet coke was fine.
I was WAYYYYYYYYY past anything at this point. I was not interested in seeing the manager I had eaten some of the meal as I am diabetic and accept I had eaten some of the food. What i would like is to go to this restaurant just once... get what I order, in a timely fashion.
The manager was hostile as she arrived at the table and never listened to a word of what as being said.I never got a chance to actually say what I felt and she was trying to say as I had eaten some of the food, she wouldn't give a discount...I made it clear that was not imortant at this time. The discount was not an issue. She was too young, undertrained and not good at the manager's job.I won't comment on the waitress. What I wanted was what I ordered.Be able to come in and have a decent meal.
NEVER HERE AGAIN!!!! YUCKYYUCKYYUCKY.
A Victum of Success.
We went for dinner in anticipation of a good evening inluding fireworks for the fourth. We have been to this branch of Sonny's many times for years. While never awesome, was reliable quality both in and takeaway.
Well until last night. Expectedly it was packed, but it was the 4th and they should have made allowances with staff for that as BBQ is a fav for this holiday.
We sat for 40 minutes for our meal, got no refills on our drinks and when my meal came, my pulled chicken was cold and bland. The starter didn't arrive till after the main meal by almost ten minutes after I had sent my original back to be reheated. So I had one bowl of fried Okra, one small bowl of baked beans and a mass produced store bought cornbread and french fries off my companion's plates for dinner. The chicken when it was brought back was dripping wet to the point I had to use a napkin to soak it up while tipping my plate to the side.Horrid., It either had been dipped in hot water to heat it up, or they boil the chicken off the bone in water to get the meat off which to me isn't pulled chicken, yuckyuckyuck. At least it could have been drained well.
What a huge disappointment.
Food is good, prices are reasonable.
This particular location always seems to be a bit disorganized at the registry but they are friendly and it all seems to work out fine.
I eat at this location regularly as it is close to my office.
Miserable service, overcrowded, and disgustingly dirty. Our waiter was on his second day and had over 5 tables. he couldnt keep up so they fired him. By the way he had no trainer and he came to apologize for the poor service and explain why we were getting a new server. The management never came once to apologize to field complaints. Just pathetic i will NEVER eat at that sonny's again and i may never eat at sonny's in general. Who could treat their employees like that and still sleep at night? The food was decent, but not worth the wait, crowds or guilt. Thanks for nothing sonny's.
Do you remember small town restraunts? A place where a weary traveller could come in from the hot sun, get a cold glass of water and a friendly smile at no charge, eat a good meal for under five dollars and be on their way?
Sonny's is this and more. It has become a big-time chain, while retaining it's home town feel. The people are unwaveringly friendly, the service is excellent, the food is superb. Sonny's founded the idea of multiple sauces, and is the standard most barbecue restraunts attempt to follow.
The atmosphere is pleasant- there, but not overdone. There is an all-you-can-eat salad bar for a very fair price with good salad, extras, dessert, and soup. All you can eat BBQ specials along the weak, and other pickins if you can pull yourself away from the meat or salad.
