History of our building dates back to 1928. It started out as a feed and storage depot in the 20's. Supplies came by boat and rail. After that business, the building has been used as a Scotty's, Motorcycle repair shop, & Flea Market. The building was then abandoned for quite a few years. Then in 1998, it was rebuilt inside out and became a restaurant called Sunset Steakhouse. The top layer of roof was blown off in 2001 and the building and restaurant was sold. June 4, 2001 The Crazy Gator was opened by Beth and Steve Robin.
The service we received from Becky (The Craziest Gator there) was over the top. You young single guys stay away. Becky is MINE! The food was good and reasonably priced. A little disappointment that grouper has been replaced with one of the Vietnamese catfish, but the batter and the fries and cold draft, while sitting out watching an actual gator glide through the lake in front of us, made it all worth while.
Eustis has done a remarkable job of redefining and Crazy Gator is part of that process. Shoppers should definitely see Peddler's Wagon just down the street. Penny and her crew have more items (all in good taste and quality) than I could ever stuff in that space.
Visited twice in two weeks ordered a burger medium well it came out well well done almost burnt. Sat at inside bar for several minutes had too find a server in back of resturant to get any service. After this I still got up and got my own Tea every time. Then the owner walks through I had to ask him for bill cause I never seen the server he asked how was my Hamburger I said it wasn't cooked the way I ordered it and very very dry. He said there is no way to make a medium well burger. I seem to discuss this he said no way then I questioned about ordering a Steak if it can be cooked medium well why can't a Hamburger be cooked the same the owner still wanted to argue with me THE CUSTOMER, CONSUMER that you can't make a medium well hamburger I seem to differ myself I make medium well with a little pink inside at home on grill or in frying pan. Next visit I sat at inside bar no server was even in area or at bar so I get up and look in back of resturant again to get service at bar she replied she would get the other server to serve me and she had to actually get my tea and menu before the server that was working bar got there. I knew better to order a Hamburger from last experience I orderd the Chicken Platter lunch menu got THREE LITTLE PIECES OF CHICKEN 4inches long 2 inches wide and a QUARTER OF AN INCH THICK WOW I paid $10.49 for a glass of Sweet Tea and this poor excuse of a CHICKEN BASKET. I believe after all the bad reviews of service and food you would think something would be corrected. A very bad owner can't blame any managment if OWNER ARGUES ABOUT MEDIUM WELL ITEMS HOW CAN ANY SERVER OR COOK PUT OUT A GOOD PRODUCT IT'S TIME FOR NEW OWNERSHIP OR CLOSE BAR.
I visited the Crazy Gator this past weekend for the first time with friends and family. We all thought it was great! I had mussels for the first time as did some of my friends, and they were wonderful! Drinks were never a problem to get and the atmosphere was pleasant. It is definitely a relaxed environment to set back and hang out in.

Wife and two friends had lunch here. We ordered two salads with fish and two of their all you can eat fish special. Salads were good but the fish specials were very greasy. The waiter gave us the wrong bill and it took two attempts on his part to get the bill right. Make sure you carefully review your bill before paying.
my wife and i were turned on to this place by her mom and dad...being from new york and having a tavern in my family i was very impressed with the casual atmosphere...the joint was clean...and i was so impressed with the quality/portion of the food we ordered..i had the fryed combo and was in heaven!...it was not greasy..the batter was crunchy..and it was everything i wanted in a relaxed kicked back enviorment...we all ate and had a good time..4 of us for 50$...can't beat that!...the server was very good.....all we had to do was raise a hand and ask for something and we got it.....i will deffinitly be eating there often.........
