Has changed... Still good, but not like it used to be. The biggest thing that has changed is the size of the bun and portion. The extras they used to put on are tiny in comparison to what it used to be. AND...they over charged me on my credit card. This has happened twice now. Apparently they help them selves to a tip for $5.00 even when you don't put one on the reciept. How nice of them!
The owners are there practically every day, and the quality is outstanding. Best steak fries in Florida--but it's the sandwiches that rock. My favorite is the bacon-burger sub. They've never paid a dime in advertising, because they don't have to. 26 years in the same location, and going strong. One of the owners was a Navy cook, and he knows what he's about--don't forget to try his soups on our rare chilly days--or just when you want soup.
The toasted roll tasted like margarine. The steak and cheese was truly overpriced. Meat was tough. I have been to Philly and even did the Pat & Geno s comparison test. If you cannot make a great cheese steak then take it off the menu!
Try the famous Steak and Cheese all the way or my other favorite - their veggie that has the best spinach and mushrooms and tomatoes in DeLand. I have been eating here for at least 17 years and they are as good today as they were then. The quality of the food is amazing here, and you can see it all being cooked right in front of you. It is small on the inside so make sure if it's Friday you call ahead for your order and expect it to be crowded because I am not the only one that knows this place rocks. Say hi to Drew for me.
