Acme Oyster House Sandestin
Acme Oyster House in the Sandestin Resort offers the same fantastic selections as the famous Acme Oyster House in New Orleans' French Quarter, which was established in 1910. Menu items include shrimp, oyster and catfish po-boys, seasonal boiled shrimp and crawfish, red beans and rice, jambalaya, artichoke bisque, gumbo, and sweet potato fries. Child friendly. Insider's tip: Steve at the bar will do coin tricks for the little ones while you eat dinner quietly at your table.
This particular visit was special in that the restuarant was closed to the public. I was there for a private party. It's the kind of place you could show up with your swimsuit and shorts and flip flops though it's located in the upscale but casual The Villlage at Baytown Wharf.
This party had a buffet of fried catfish - lightly coated in cornmeal and fried.. the only way to have catfish-delicious, gumbo, red beans and rice, fried oysters, fried shrimp and grilled chicken and coleslaw AND french bread with lettuce and tomotoes to make your own poboys! Everything was awesome!
As we stood in line for the buffet upstairs, the oysters were being shucked, some were left raw and others were chargrilled. Did ya hear me?? Chargrilled with seasonings and parmesan cheese and butter... O M G to die for! The oysters were the highlight of the evening! The service was excellent, very attentive and hard working. The restaurant was a little warmer than I liked which means it was hot in there but it could be b/c we were upstairs, the grill was going full blast and the place was crowded.
Acme also has a restaurant in Metairie, LA, luckily, it is a cloned restuarant. You can't go wrong, excellent choice.
Acme Oyster House is a great laid black place to have lunch, hang out and watch people. My first oyster experience was here - AWESOME, grilled oysters, you have to try them. The Po Boys are HUGE! Staff is friendly...
