Crab Trap, Destin

This place has made the short list of restaurants that my husband and I go to every year while vacationing in Destin. It is the place to get your crab leg fix!! The service is great, the view is awesome, and understandably there is often a long wait. The prices are good for Destin seafood and kid friendly as well.

Recently had lunch here. Had the shrimp PoBoy which was awful! Terrible bread, few small shrimp. Also had the gumbo which probably would not be allowed to be called gumbo in louisiana! Like I sais, great view but go someplace else for the food.

If you're at the beach in Destin and need a bite to eat, the Crab Trap isn't the worst place you could try. I've been for both lunch and dinner recently (in the past week). Lunch was better than dinner... less of a crowd, and much more reasonable prices for their fare. The wait tonight for a party of 4 was 1:45! The views of the beach and ocean are fantastic when the windows are open and a light breeze blows through. Tonight was very windy and misty, so the windows were closed (thank goodness, as it was quite chilly out). The prices on their lunch menu are typical vacation spot prices for a reasonable amount of food. Their dinner menu is the same as the lunch menu with higher prices. LAME! It's the same portion size, same presentation, but it's more expensive... Bottom Line: A pretty good seafood place if you're in Destin. It's very convenient if you're looking to hit the beach before/after your meal. Expect to wait for a long time if you're going for dinner (Especially a Weekend Night!). Lunch is your best bet. Tenderest, most delicious clam strips I ever ate. The crab cakes were absolutely wonderful...If I ever get back to Destin I will certainly eat there again.
