A favorite of ours every trip. Definately not your big, fancy restaurant but a delicious casual place that is hard to beat. Extremely fresh and tasty. As long as you go knowing you are their for the food and not the fine dining experience, you will be happy with this choice. The tuna sandwich is my favorite but had many items from them menu and never been dissappointed.
I have been going to the Destin area for over 30 years, and this was one of best meals I have had there. I had the steamed shrimp and my husband had the steamed scallops. Both were delicious. We will definitely go back. It was very fresh and well cooked. Go early by 5:30. We got there just in time before a line was out the door. You stand in line to place your order. It is very rustic and you eat at picnic tables either in the shack or on the dock outside. The food is why you go. You can also get fresh seafood to take home. When we left we saw more local cars than out of town - definitely not a tourist trap.
My family took us to destin for vac. last year and we ate at this incredible seafood place. Dewey's is one of those hole in the wall places but the food is amazing! If you want crab they go out and catch it for you! Thats how fresh this seafood is. We are going to go back the summer of 09 and I cant wait to eat at Dewey's again!
This is best place by far to eat in destin. My family has been to destin 2 times and we have eaten here about 7 times in 2 weeks. i love the food and the price is right and the view out on the desk is great. the only thing i would ask them to do is to put more kinds of steamed crab on the buffet. but it will not kill me if they dont!!!
We will be back next year and will eat there again.
We were there 4th of July. Crowds were bad, and there was a line out the door. Dining is very casual which is cool, but cokes are served in cans, and by the time you get your food, you probably need another can of coke, and you have to get back in line and wait(up to 30mins)to get more coke. I recommend getting tea. Its self serve. Ice is in a big cooler and you dip it out with scoop. Not very good, as I seen kids and drunks dipping it out with their hands, and not using scoop.
Our food average and was under cooked. There are a lot better places on the water to eat. I think this place is successful, due mainly to loacation, near crab island. Too many drunks for me. I don't mind people enjoying themselves, but the profanity, and druken behavior is not something I want to put up with, while my family, and I are trying to eat.
