We ate there on Thursday. It was terrible. There was a long wait. (I guess the advertisements pay off) The shrimp were the kind you buy at your local grocery store in the freezer. They don't offer steamed oysters...only the ones with so many things added you're not sure it's even an oyster. The slaw was yuck! Also, the hushpuppies were terrible. In fact, the only good things we ordered were the Jalapeno Poppers and my brother said the crab bisque was pretty good.
I don't know if I come to Panama Beach for the Beach or for Shuckums?
We can go in there and feel like a local, even though we live in Kentucky. Everyone is very friendly, the food is delicious. Everything they serve is Yummy. I sure wish I could talk them into opening a branch up in Louisville.
This was my go-to place until this week. Took my family to Shuckums and their food arrived cold. I ordered raw oysters and they were not local. Some of them had dark edges, they were small and tasteless. I asked if the peel and eat shrimp had been cleaned and how many.... was told yes (I commented I had never had cleaned peel and eat shrimp and was excited) and that I would received 14 - 16. Well, they weren t clean, weren t local and only 8 on my plate. I have been sick the last two days. Won t go again.
I was caught a little off guard when I walked in. Definately the worn beach look. But lots of fun. I had the baked oysters, they were great-lot's of flavor. Their burgers looked awesome. We will definately be back.
We vacation in PCB every summer and wouldn't think of going without stopping by Shuckums. The food is great and the atmosphere is very friendly. We always eat in the open bar area, rather than the restaurant, because it is usually less crowded and you get to hear the karoke singers, some of which are very talented. As for the cost, it's a tourist town, no more expensive than any other restaurant in a tourist area. If you want cheap, try McDonalds. See you next year!!!!!
Maybe becouse it was off season, maybe becouse there was only one cook, maybe becouse we where a big group, but the food was not even warm. We had many different dishes and they all missed a bit of something.
The waitress was nice and friendly, the atmospher was good, and the prices are good also. I think we hit them on the wrong day though.
I can't think about Panama City Beach without thinking about Shuckums. Between the most amazing burger I have have ever tasted to the wings that i sware on, there's little chance that you'll leave unhappy. The food is great, the atmosphere is laid back, the prices are very affordable and the portions are very generous.
