Fish House Restaurant, Mexico Beach

We ate at The Fish House twice this past week while on vacation in Mexico Beach. Let s just say we had mixed results. On Saturday night, we ate a seafood dinner here and had both good food and fairly good service. For my family of four, the bill was about $80, and we were full. However, on Monday night, we arrived at The Fish House at about 7:30, had a half hour or so wait, then were seated. After ten minutes, we began waving our arms at various servers to get someone to take our drink order. A nice waitress came over, although we were obviously not her table. She was nice. We ate dinner, and I have to say, my steak was the worst I have had in years. Bland. No taste. But, I thought, I shouldn t order a steak at a seafood place. But the side of amberjack was the same way. Just no flavor at all. Ugh. And I was really hungry... Then the bill arrived, and I wondered why we were billed a 15 percent gratuity for a party of seven. Hmm.. The service was not bad, but I don t like being billed for something without my knowledge. The worst came a few hours later, as my best friend awakened at 1:30 a.m. with food poisoning. Not sure, but I think it came from the anchovies that he had on his salad. He was violently ill, with stuff coming from both ends. It will be a long time before I return to The Fish House. We used to go here a couple of times during every vacation in Mexico Beach. I think they changed ownership about 10 years ago...and the changes have not been for the better.

Friendly, prompt & fantastic service! Wonderful atmosphere, very family oriented! The food is outstanding, fresh & hot! The prices are very fair and the menu offers a great variety! Tried out some other area restaurants and this place outshines them in EVERY aspect by far! If you are in the area, this is THE place to eat!

Great place to dine out! Food is great! Service is great! Atmoshpere is great, also! My favorite dish is the Cold Chicken Plate. It's great if you are on a diet and want to keep the $$ down! Good steaks and seafood, too!

I like that they have a family dinning place above, and a bar down below.
