Gordo s is so great! My friends and I try to meet there for lunch at least once a month. Last week I had the Cuban Sliders and ordered some of their Gordo sauce to go with them, which was amazing, especially with their fries. My friend got the empanadas with yucca and fried plantains and she really liked hers. We have friends who have graduated and moved away who miss Gordo s so much! It s their first stop when they come back to visit.
Gordo's is awesome! Great fries, especially with that Gordo's sauce, good Cubans, good grilled fish, good burgers, good service, good beer. Great location too, right in the hub of things. I recently had the Media Noche and it was amazing! They've got outside seating, which is great when the weather's good, especially in the fall. If you dig a pressed sandwich with lots of pork and cheese with some black beans and rice and some seasoned fries, you gotta go here.
I eat at Gordos for lunch about once a month, and I've always loved the Cubans, fries with their Gordo sauce, and I haven't ventured far from that too many times. The black beans are good, and I have had the grilled fish and chicken too. Always fresh, never overcooked. The service is not super fast, but it's friendly, so you might want to avoid the lunch rush if you are in a hurry. You can eat inside or outside, depending on if you can tolerate the summer heat or weather. A must-have is the basket of seasoned fries with their famous sauce. It's plenty to share.
Excellent food and more than any three people should eat! The flavors are right on and the portions are huge (be prepared to take some home!) and the prices are more than reasonable. The fried Yucca was crisp on the outside and creamy on the inside...the maduros were great...yummy! There were several of us and we each got something different...from hamburgers to Lechon Asado (roasted pork)...everything was delicious...we'll be back!
Does not taste like authentic Cuban food at all. Side orders taste like they were bought frozen and not homemade. The food was semi-cold when served. Flavor was lacking. Take it from me, a Cuban, I recommend trying the other Cuban restaurants in town.
the food is Miami style cuban food (which is a little bland and tasteless when compared to the regional variety of Cuban food one would get in the Tampa Bay area). Try the cuban sandwich and papas rellenos for example, and they are good but not up to par. Food is good but the service is abysmal.
