I have to agree -- everything was 'greasy feeling' and worn. Portion sizes were very small -- what's happening to the Japanese steak houses now??? I used to work at a few and honestly, folks, this place could cook more veggies, less onions, and give more of the meat portions! White tuna belly sushi was awesome! If you want to keep up with the other similar restaurants tho, you might want to close up and remodel! Also, our chef wasn't experienced.
This is the best sushi restaurant in Jacksonville! We have been customers for over 20 years and wouldn't consider eating sushi elsewhere. Before we found Chizu, we had tried almost every sushi restaurant in town. The staff treats us like family, the food is always top notch and the prices are fair. Their new location is clean, professional and beautiful. I highly recommend this restaurant!
Uh we just went a couple weeks ago in 2010 and it was awful. The sushi was good. But the food was BLAND, and the shrimp was over cooked, not enough good veggies, and the rice was okay. And our cook wasnt that entertaining. WASABI at the towncenter is the BEST place by far!
This restaurant used to be superb but it's showing it's age. If the owners (Bobby and Cindy) weren't so cheap they'd close this place down for a week and scrub it. EVERYTHING is covered with grease. The prices are now sky-high, including cocktails. There's too many wonderful Japanese steakhouses in the Jax. area to put yourself through this. We've frequented 3 restaurants Bobby worked and owned, won't do it anymore.
I've been going to Chizu for as long as I can remember and it's always been delicious! The food and service are terrific, but since it's been around for so long it does appear a little worn and old. The last time we there I also had a bug land on my arm while we were eating. That was however one of dozens of visits and I would still recommend the restaurant to anyone looking for yummy sushi or an entertaining steakhouse in Jacksonville Beach. They also have seating on raised floors, which is fun if you don't have bad knees.
