As of 5/20 they are in business on Market Street (off of Timberlane).
The Meatball dish was bland. The sauce and meatball needed some spices.
The sweet tea was barely sweet.
I was going to try the stuffed grouper special that night, but they had run out
The service was fine.
I will give them another try. I will simply avoid the Italian part of the menu.
I'll be honest. I am a Ph.D. student at FSU, and one of my former professors is the brother of the owner. Every year, he brings his students from his Ph.D. class there for lunch and picks up the tab. I don't know if that is why our experience was so good, but let me tell you about it.
The resturant looks great, it is very cozy and confortable, and there is ample seating. It was a group of about 8 people, and we shared several apatisers. I was impressed by all of them, they were a little more interesting then your average Itallian apatizer.
I had a meatloaf special, that was real rich and full of flavor (plenty of spices). We finished with slice of cream cake... aparently made by the owner's wife, which was huge and to die for. I still have dreams about that cake...
I also had a minstrone soup, with vegies and elbo pasta that was memorable. I remember it was quite good with the bread.
I didn't pay, so I didn't pay attention to the prices, but from what I remember they were more than reasonable, probabally less than your better Itallian resturant.
I don't eat Itallian much, and I like to try everything, so I have not been back yet, plus the location is not super convienent, but next time I feel like good Itallian, you'll find me at Anthony's. I just hope they have the cream cake, otherwise I may seriously cry.
Anthony's Italian Restaurant is the place to go for fine dining with great Italian food! Anthony's is a locally owned restaurant and is among one of the best restaurants in Tallahassee as I see it!
The price of the food is comparable to the quality of the food! The food quality is spectacular and the service is just as good! Anthony's is nestled in a small shopping center with plenty of parking. The atmosphere at Anthony's is out of this world!
I strongly recommend Anthony's to anyone wanting to experience real Italian dining with a southern touch of hospitality! Be sure to try the dessert menu, it is to die for!
