I have eaten here twice and going to lunch w/ co-workers again today. Let me say that I have only been once by choice. The first time my husband and I went on a symphony night. The server was weird but decent and the food seemed okay at the time, but we got home and both of us felt sick. I think the seafood is all frozen or old. Kind of fishy and not fresh. The second time I went for lunch w/ co-workers. Most everyone liked what they had. The service was again okay, a little slow. The food was pretty good but nothing spectacular. I hope it is good today but we'll see. Overall, my impression of this place is blah. I wouldn't go back by my own choosing.
Our waiter at Benny's Steak & Seafood at The Landing's should be ASHAMED of himself! Charging us an 18% gratuity then NOT telling us and letting us pay ANOTHER gratuity! He made a total of 37% off of us and 38% off my sister in law! Shame on you Jeffery! Shame, shame on you! And to top it all off, the Owner Benny Youscszadeh REFUSES to return ANY of the monies. This server ended up making a grand total of $78.38 on a $145.00 check! (This was the before tax total) Have YOU ever had a server worth a 50% - 60% tip? I surely haven't and I AM a server! BEWARE....... There is an 18% gratuity added to your bill if your party is of 6 or more.... an 18% gratuity is automatically charged and if you pay by credit card your receipt will NOT read as such. On most cc crt's you get at restaurant's that automatically charge a gratutiy it is stated right on the cc crt and there is usually a line for ADDITIONAL GRATUITY or ADDITIONAL TIP nope............ this one added the bill, tax, and 18% grat all together on one line then the next line stated TIP then the next line said TOTAL. The food was good, but not excellent, the service was NOT worth a 20% let alone a 50% tip. (They were very busy so I will give Jeffery that.) In any case we will NOT be returning EVER and I hope this review sheds some light on the goings on at this restaurant. Allowing servers to make double tips without informing their customers is flat out STEALING in my book. ps......... I am a server as well and I would NEVER do this to a customer.
Made reservation on line 4 days prior to the requested dinner time. Received confirmation by phone and e-mail. On the way to Benny's received a call and stated due to a large party our reservation was cancelled.....Customer no service is the fare of the day for Benny's.
I recently enjoyed a wonderful meal at Benny's. My guest and I sat outside by the river. The view was incredible. We where promptly greeted by our server who seemed fresh and cheerful. My freind had the jerk swordfish and I had a delmonico that was black and blue style. Both were cooked perfectly and very deliciouse. I would recommend this place to everyone and will definately be visiting there more often.
BAD,BAD,BAD ARE YOU KIDDING ME THIS PLACE IS ABSOLUTELY TERRIBLE I CAN'T BELIEVE THEY ARE STILL IN BUSINESS.THE FOOD IS TERRIBLE.THE SERVICE IS TERRIBLE.THE VIEW IS GOOD BUT MY FAVORITE MEMORY IS WHEN WE LEFT.OVERPRICED, TERRIBLE.
Save your money !!!! Go somewhere else. I just got back from this dump. I've had better food at Old Country Buffet. The Service is terrible, The Seafood tastes fishy(old) I sincerely think I'm gonna hurl. We paid 62 bucks and only had 1 Entree. I don't know how you can screw up a Cobb Salad but they figured it out. We have been in Jax for a week and have eaten at several local establishments and this one is BY FAR the worst.If you are thinking about eating there, RUN don't walk the other way.Go to the other side of the river but please DO NOT EAT HERE. OVERPRICED and UNDERSERVICED.
