This was by far the best dining experience ever! My husband and myself thoroughly enjoyed the food, the service, and the romantic atmosphere. I was amazed to find such an elegant restaurant in Ormond Beach. A touch of class for sure!
I ate in this restaurant many times over the years. I am European and just graduated from college in the United States so I can't afford this place every day. But my taste buds have always been very happy with the food and quality, found at la Crape. I usually go there for special occasions and the services has always been impeccable. I find it hard to believe that someone has ever had to wait close to 10 min to get served in that place. The staff is highly trained, knows how to serve and is always very knowledgeable. I often call la Crape one of central Florida best French restaurant.
We went to La Crepe during Bike week in Oct 2007. The dinner was fantastic! Our maitre d' was excellent, courteous, could not of ask for any better! Food was mouth watering, Stone crabs, steak, all the way to the dessert, flaming banana foster!! I would return many times over!! One of the best meals we ever had! Very elegant and romantic.
One of the worst dining experences...EVER: You've read several very positive reviews...From 2006. Let me give you mine from 2007 and you do with it what you want. We arrived (we live in Ormond Beach) at 7:30 pm to a near empty restaurant on a Saturday night...Humm.
Our waiter came over right away (that's significant) and took our drink order (again, this is significant) and returned for our appetizer and entree orders. I'd quickly chosen the one dish I always enjoy at a French restaurant...Duck. Sadly, the duck was sold out at 7:30 pm on a Saturday night? Whatever Dude.
So, I ordered the blackened filet stuffed with blue cheese ($36.00) medium rare. After we received our appetizers and before we got our entrees, the waiter was nowhere to be found. Our four water glasses were all empty. Throughout the meal service, we had to request refills of our water three times. My wife and her friend's wine glasses remained empty. They would never be asked, if they wanted another glass of wine or if the other diner wanted another drink.
When my steak came out, it was the narrow, last section of the tenderloin...normally designated for something else If any of you have ever brought a whole tenderloin, cut it up in filets, you know what I'm talking about.
Perhaps that's why my steak came out medium instead of medium rare? At $36, I figured I was entitled to what I'd ordered so I called for our waiter. However, he was nowhere to be found. It literally took 10 minutes to find someone to help us.
There was no service staff in our dining room! Finally, another waiter picked up my steak and I watched the three others eat. Nice. The waiter returned, after everyone else was done with a huge, perfectly done filet. Thanks, but my dining experience was already ruined. Do any of you enjoy sitting and watch others eat and then you eat by yourself?
We concluded dinner with a dessert crape that obviously was made sometime prior to service because it was like rubber. Otherwise, the food was good, but it should be for the prices this place is charging....$45 for lamb chops...$29 for salmon...$35 for filet. ATTENTION: ANY RESTAURANT CAN SERVE GOOD FOOD, IF YOU GET ENOUGH MONEY FOR IT FROM THE CUSTOMER.
Normally, I don't make a big deal about service, but this was so blatantly bad, (all of us agreed) that this story needs to be out here. For the prices this place charges, there is no excuse for this type of service.
We have few ( I say none) exceptional restaurants in our little town; I can assure you Le Crepe is not one of them. Come to Ormand Beach and expect a good meal at a fair price from Billy's Tap Room, Stonewood or Bonefish. You want fancy? Hey, put on a sport coat when you go to any of those three and pocket the savings from what you'd have been charged at this French rip off.
I have been here 6 times and have never had a disapointing visit. On one occasion we told the waitress that the pheasant ravioli was a little greasy, that was all that was said about it, and the meal minus drinks was comped.
