I just came back from Ponte Vedra Beach Ruths Chris Steakhouse. I asked for a medium well steak and it came out charred. I thought their hot grills/ovens and 500 degree plates would be a good idea, but not if used incorrectly. They offered to get me another steak but I never send anything back in a restaurent. The french fried onions were okay and so was the service.
Steaks were great! Sides could be better proportioned tho. Was surprised to get one '3 sip' glass of wine that costs $18!!!!! um...not worth that when the whole bottle is available for $20.
We did get seated near a large party of 10 who were loud but hostess moved us to a secluded table when we complained that we couldn't hear each other talk. Overall, we'd return there.
Let's start with I'm really picky, especially when food costs as much as they charge. So keep that in mind with this review. I have also lived in several major metro areas, including NY, Miami and Boston and have eaten at many a great resturant, including 4 and 5 star resturants. This resturant is anything but great. It is good and I would go again but the service was just not up to the prices. Not attentive enough and not classy enough. I think Jacksonville wait staff just needs to be upgraded. The steak was prepared properly but the portion was small for the cost. We had some really awful apple dessert that just was not edible. Unfortunately our evening was dampaned by another customer that had an illness at the table next to us. I think the staff did a good job but not a great job in dealing with that situation. I would have liked to see the manager out on the floor dealing with the situaiton. It clearly was beyond their control but at that point their were empty tables elsewhere in the resturant and the staff should have cleared the area around this gentleman.
Being from a farm and eating fresh beef most of my life, I am hard to impress with a steak. Ruth's Chris did it! Worth the price! The service was excellent and the food was out of this world. It made our anniversary one to remember.
I enjoyed the personal attention; being my first time there our waiter took a few moments to explain things to me (us). The filet was awesome! It was still sizzlin' when it was presented at the table and the aroma was divine! I WILL be back!
