Brick Restaurant, Jacksonville

We used to love this place, but our recent dinner there with friends was a total bust. Long wait time for the sweet server to come to the table, for which she apologized profusely, an hour for food to be delivered, condiments and side dishes missing, burger over cooked, chicken was tough and dry, portions were more like lunches, salad was a small plate of greens with five palm hearts and tomatoes, barely any dressing, and a flustered staff. Really disappointing and not worth the amount of time and money on our part. Crossing this one off our list permanently.

Fun Avondale spot for light fare, music and comfortable surroundings. Outside dining enjoyable. Somewhat limited menu but most items are very good. Crab cakes, burger, apps are among best items.

We stopped here for dinner one evening while on vacation and had a great meal. The waitress was exceptional and the food was hot and delicious. There was something on the menu that we all liked, including the kids. I would recommend this to travellers and locals.

I have been to the Brick many times, each time is a new experience, as the wait staff changes. The food was 5 star when they started out and had just opened, but now, it is literally a hit or miss situation, possibly the change in chefs, who knows? Sometimes, the entrees are good, sometimes they are downright sad. The wait staff is normally very attentive during the 1st half of your meal. As the meal progresses, there is very little attention paid to your table. So make sure you have everything you need when the meal is brought to your table, and you will be fine.

We loved the food, the atmosphere and music. Food was outstanding!

Best appetizer Shrimp & Grits!

A couple signature, staple dishes. However, the menu is small and not very diverse or too creative. Have had several steak and all fish dishes and less than impressed with each 80% of the time. All sandwiches are good. Brunch is also good, but again, not very diverse. A great atmospehre. A great neighborhood place to meet freinds and have some appetizers and a few drinks.

Great dinner and brunch experiences. Love weekend nights sitting outside on the patio watching the locals or inside enjoying the jazz band. Food is average, but ambiance makes up for any short comings.
