Cross Creek Steakhouse & Ribs
Experience a taste of Old Florida at Cross Creek Barbeque and Steakhouse, fishcamp style located a mile south of I-10 on the west side of Jacksonville. Here you dine on casual, family style-food and barbecue, cooked slowly and topped with plenty of spicy sauce. Try the chicken wings a million ways (beer breaded, babyback style, hot, honey mustard, Cajun, ranch), gator bites served with dipping sauce, or crispy zucchini sticks. Generous salads and soups are available, but it is the barbecue that counts: sticky, sweet babyback ribs, spare ribs, pork, chicken and beef are served with side orders of baked beans, French fries, fried okra or coleslaw. There is a full service bar and children's menu. There is also another Cross Creek Steakhouse on Jacksonville's Northside .
I noticed that these people who keep posting terrible things about Cross Creek dined at the Lane Ave. location. I never dined at that location, but I have dined at the one in Mandarin on San Jose and it was fabulous! I absolutely love the chicken fingers and the Magnolia salad is amazing. I wanted to go back the other day and... they closed! I was so disappointed and I'm assuming that it was poor management because the food was amazing and they never seemed to be slow when we arrived there.
We were seated right away, but where was our waitress? When she did show up, we told her we were ready to order and she said to wait, she would be right back and another 15 minutes passed. When the food arrived the pork was like leather and was cold. Nasty food. Lousy service - the waitress even took our drinks to refill them and we never saw the drinks again. We didn't want to wait on the drinks - we left and had drinks at home. Somehow they ended up on the list of best places to eat in Jacksonville at #34, but I wouldn't dare try 35...
I eat at Cross Creek in Mandarin quite often. I love the Mayport Fried Shrimp. It is the best shrimp I have tasted. I normally do not like hush puppies, but these are very tasty. The ribs are not the best I've eaten but the steaks are always tender and delicious. The salmon dish is particularly good. I love the baked sweet potato and fried corn on the cob. The chocolate cake is wonderful. The service has always been very good.
The best thing about Cross Creek in Mandarin is the
decor. I thoroughly enjoy looking at the taxidermy of
animals and foul that surround the restaurant.
I would recommend the restaurant to anyone!

Went in and ordered pulled pork special and it was the tuffest meat I have ever eat. Ordered a second plate to see if maybe it was just a bad serving and the second plate was worst than the first. Lots of fat and the meat was harder than beef jerky.Told the waitress and all she offered was to get another plate. Management did not even bother to come talk to me or anything.
Not a thing. Everything from the moment we walked in the door, until we left was just as perfect as could be.Great job guys. The waitress was very knowledgeable about the menu and what we were looking for.The desert that she recommended was perfect.
My wife recived a gift card from a friend who had eaten at the one in Mandarin and loved it. So we decided to give it a try. After reading reviews either loving it or hating it I was a bit worried.
We went on a weeknight and as you'd expect it was not over crowded and is usually when you will get the best service. I asked the hostess for an experienced server and she took us to Jessica's table where I recieved about the best service I've ever had anywhere. We had about 10 different items all which were great and came about as quick as you could finish the previous one.
The atmosphere was relaxed, the bar looked great but decided to try it another time.
I was in town on a business meeting and I stopped at cross creek for dinner. I asked the server (dee) were the best place to stay at was. She went and got a list of hotels and gave me a map to get there. Thats great service.
