I don't know about all these other locations, but I love the one on Hendricks! The food is delicious, the service is steady. OK, so the guy brought me the wrong order one time...he corrected it...no biggy. I highly recommend the Shrimp Quesadillas!
We just ate at La Napalera, Fleming Island, Florida. My daughter left her
cell phone on the table and when we went back to retrieve it, they said they never saw it!!!!!!!!!!!!!! We will never eat there again!!!!!!
The Nopalera on phillips and baymeadows:
Worst service I have received in a long time. My table of 14 was ignored for over an hour, and I had to ask at least 3 waiters who our waiter was, and nobody knew or cared. The food was cold as well.
They also gave us attitude when the whole party hadn't arrived yet, and starting removing our reserved tables! The audacity! I am never going back to this location again. The vaulted ceiling doesn't help either. The place was way to noisy to carry on a conversation.
Outstanding! I just went to the Phillips Highway location, and it was GREAT. I was born and raised in California, and like most, I love mexican food. I have been to several mexican resteraunts in the Jacksonville area, and have been dissapointed by all of them... untill now. It was terrific. for $35.00, we had 3 coronas, 1 daquari, an enourmous burrito, and terrific nachos. I will never go to another ever again.
Good, quick food. Mind the health notices.: I've been frequenting La Nop on Hendricks with a workplace group since 2000. During the years, the faces and interior has changed, but the good food still remains.
The food is your typical Americanized Mexican faire. There is a quick order lunch menu featuring things like chimichangas, burritos, enchiladas, etc. There are also special order items, such as the awesome fajita nachos.
Now, saying that the food is good is one thing, but do note that this particular location has had run-ins with the health inspectors. There have been at least two published violation reports on this location. While this has disuaded a few co-workers from ever returning, I've found that the food quality after the inspections has been better.
Service is another issue, though. It is very hit-n-miss when we go. Special orders are confusing to some of the staff, while others take it in stride. Some are very attentive to things like salsa, chips, and drink refills. Others will show up once to take your order, and maybe once to check up before you leave. We even had once instance where the server argued with a party member about something they had clearly ordered, but the server brought the wrong thing.
Parking is also another issue, now that the street parking has been removed. I suggest getting there about 11:30. Otherwise, you may find yourself walking a ways to park.
Overall, if you work near downtown Jax, give it a shot. You just might enjoy it.
The newest location is the best of all (8206 Phillips Highway) !!! The ambiance is better than any of the other Nopalera locations and the food is as authentic as it gets in Jacksonville. It is tucked in a corner behind Woody’s Barbeque, but if you are looking for it you can’t miss it. For anyone who loves great food with a Mexican flare this is your place!
This place is great! I frequent the Mandarin location and I've never once been disappointed. After a margarita, chips & salsa/cheese dip I'm usually stuffed but can never resist the wonderful chicken chimichana with rice and beans. Of course there is always room for one more margarita which by the way is the best frozen in town. The prices are extremely reasonable so you can bring the entire family. I highly recommend this place. Have fun.
