Delicately placed in quaint Flagler Beach overlooking the tranquil ocean, Blue at the Topaz offers creative food from creative chefs. Itac2s consistently fine dining at an affordable price. Since opening the doors in 2002, Blue and has grown to Flagler Beachac2s most talked about restaurant. Outdoor dining on the Victorian wrap around porch is an experience you wonac2t soon forget. Most of the staff has been at Blue since the beginning, which is unique. And Blue is just that ac unique. They have the most unique special event banquet room you can find in this area. Itac2s a mini-museum with memorabilia from the 19th and 20th centuries. There is an antique pinball machine, historic train sets, and photos of the Topaz Hotel from its humble beginnings when nothing else surrounded it on the beach.
Great food for several years and then we were totally disappointed recently with 4 meals our party ordered. We didn't completely compare notes until we left, so we were not outspoken in the restaurant. On the phone the owner said she was sorry, but offered nothing else. She even admitted knowing about several of the issues we mentioned, but made no effort to make the corrections necessary before we ordered! None of us will return!
This simply was not worth the money. Food was undercooked, service was average to say the least. Selection was limited. Regardless of the genre of the restaurant, due to the fact that it is on the ocean, more seafood must be served. The only bright point of the night was the desert. The chocolate cheesecake was out of this world.
Excellent cuisine. Everytime I visit Palm coast I must enjoy a meal here. Blue is our favorite restaurant by far. You should expect to have a fine meal and excellent service. Dine on the side porch and hear the waves lap the shores of Flagler Beach. A large selection of fine wines. Something for everyone.
We were very disappointed with the Blue at Topaz. The service was terrible, the food a huge disappointment (and way over-priced). We ended up looking for fast food after dinner because we were still hungry.
My family and I ate here while vacationing in nearby Palm Coast (referred by concierge). While we weren't sure what to think when we pulled into th parking lot, we remembered what the concierge said about how great the food was, and decided to go inside. We're glad we did, because the food and service was outstanding. my wife is a vegetarian and we always struggle with finding her things to eat on the menu. We explained that to Aaron the waiter, and in a few minutes the owner/ chef came out and talked with my wife about creating her something special. I've never had that happen before. He also told my daughter that although the type of steak she chose was typically a little fatty, he'd choose the leanest steak that he had. And he didn't just do this for us, he was having similar discussions around the dining room. If you are within 100 miles of Flagler Beach and are hungry, you owe it to yourself to give this place a try. You won't be sorry.
Don't know why Jennifer's experience was so bad but she should have asked to speak with a manager. We've eaten at Blue many, many times and NEVER had a bad meal. Most of our friends have eaten there and feel the same as us. Service is more often great rather than just acceptable and the prices particularly at lunch are extremely reasonable. Of course we prefer to sit on the deck overlooking the ocean rather than sitting inside where the walls are blue (what else can we expect with the name BLUE?) where we feel it's depressing. We've lived here 7 years and visit this restaurant at least 2-3 times a month.
Last night was our third visit to this establishment. We got engaged several months ago after eating here, so thought we would go back for sentimental reasons. Terrible idea. The food never has been a big drawing card, only the ocean view. Staff couldn't figure out where they were going to seat us, and then we waited, and waited for service. Some tall scruffy excuse for a waiter came by and leaned in and barked that he would be right there to help us, then continued to talk baseball with the table next to us that was already finished dining. After several minutes of being ignored we decided the ocean view wasn't going to be worth the lousy service and overpriced menu. Spoke with the guy that claimed to be the owner and he didn't see any problem with the service, which pretty much explains everything. Won't go back.
We live in Chicago, Illinois but Blue is our favorite restaurant and we visit there 3-4 times a year. Everything is exceptional. The sauces are incredible. Last time we were there we had white chocolate raspberry amaretto cheesecake. This was the best dessert I've ever had. Definitely recommend going there. It's very relaxing to sit on the deck for dinner and watch the ocean.
We had the Lump Crab and Spinach Au Gratin and finished it off with some rare lamb and my wife had the chicken gorgonzola pasta. It was fantastic from start to finish. I was pleasantly surprised by how well the peas went with the pasta dish. I asked the hostess to give my complements to the chef and after talking with her for a bit she let me know she was the owner Kelli. And she told me she d give that night s chef; chef Troy, our compliments. Great job!
I used to live in Flagler Beach and this was by far the best restaurant in town. It was a favorite for my family and I and we rarely ventured out further because you can go North to St. Augustine or South to Daytona Beach and still not find an establishment with better food or service.
It is the first place I go with my family when I am visiting the area and will remail my restaurant of choice when I am within a 500 mile radius of it.
The waitstaff is amazing and the food simply cannot be beat. The owner and Chef, Gary is willing to customize and alter anything on the menu to make customers happy and they can do it they will.
Eat here for lunch or dinner- you will not be disappointed!
