Brown Lantern, Live Oak

My family and I have been all over the US and my parents all over the world. We have to say that this place does quality food. The food has always been delicious and cooked properly. The negatives are not open on the weekend, so a lot of weekend guests end up going elsewhere for quality food. The other big negative is the lack of service. My mother was in the hospitality business managing a country club and the dining room. The servers just act like you should be happy they are taking their time to wait on you. Every time we have eaten there the quality of service is lacking. They make a mistake on the orders just about every time we have eaten there, they do not serve drinks in a timely manner EVEN when there isn't many other customers. So yes good food, less than average service and they are proud of it, even saying be prepared to wait. So if you are in a hurry and you want quality service from the wait staff this is not the place for you. If you want quality food and that is all you really care about, then go here. The food is really good. Prices are a bit higher than most places in Live Oak. They are not open on the weekends which is too bad as they would probably get a lot more business if they were.

When you look at the menu you may think it's expensive but the portions are well worth it for example it $12.00 for chicken strips and one side, but you get a side that's as 1 and a half times larger than the average restaurants side items and you get about 10-15 chicken strips.

Im not from here but i went in to look at menu and didnt get a good vibe at all, so i left...very over priced too, for bar food!!!!

I LIVE IN LIVE OAK AND I EAT AT THE LANTERN AT LEAST TWICE A WEEK. (LUNCH & SUPPER) GREAT FOOD, GREAT SERVICE AND AN AWESOME ATMOSPHERE! IF YOU DON'T BELIEVE ME, TRY IT FOR YOURSELF!

we drove from north carolina to come back to the brown lantern best food around .i really think the cook takes his time because he cares about the quality. never dissapointed. prices are fair and i recevied a full plate. i have been to the west coast and back this is truly a unique place to eat and relaxing atmosphere. will do it agian. o yea bathrooms clean better then most.

well the food is very good and if you want to go out and eat well this is the place but it is very pricey and they are not open weekends. WHAT IS WITH THAT????

Food is expensive, we're not all high rollers. Portions are small, we're not all on a diet. Atmosphere is sporty but when you walk in you feel like you're being sized up by the crowd. Place for locals but if you're an out of towner be prepared for an experience.

We have been many times and always have a great meal and service. It is a comfortable, laid back atmosphere. As far as I'm concerned they have the best fried shrimp this side of New Orleans. And when oysters are in season, they are great too. Prices aren't much different than other restaurants around Florida. This is not a fast food place (though you can call ahead for take-out), so don't expect fast food prices.

The service is slowwwww so don't be in a hurry, the prices are high and the food is not worth the money although it is good when you finally get it. Mostly snobs, lawyers eat here.

The food is worth the wait. You need not be in a hurry. This is one of those days that lunch should last at least 2 hours.
