Wife and I are only able financially to go out once per month. We have enjoyed the OLD Cedar River Seafood restaurant in Middleburg in the past, however it is now under another management and gone to Hell. We ordered the Platter for two as always. When it came, all the fried food was shoe leather brown, burned to a crisp. We really tried to enjoy it but it was very overcooked and hard. The fried oysters were like little burned rocks! When the waitress ask How is everything I told her it was horrible and burned. Her reply was that the dishwasher was cooking tonight . The regular cook was not there. There we sat with burned food and even more Burned Customer Syndrome When I got home I did call to speak to the manager and had to leave a message for him. He never even bothered to call me back.
Very poor dining experience. sub standard condiments. burned the hamburger bun. Okra fried rock hard. Top it off with kitchen staff playing music loud enough to be heard in dining area. Manager was not on the floor. I can only guess he was in the kitchen listening to the loud bass with his staff. I paid for my meal without completing it. McDonald's next door would be a better place. to dine
Just wanted to write a review after getting excellent service time and time again. We have been eating here for years. I live in Fleming Island, and the options and choices of where to eat get old after a while. La Nop, anyone? Cedar River is well worth the drive in my opinion, and the food is hands down the best seafood in the area. I'm a very picky eater, and I can always find something I like on the menu. I will continue to eat here, and recommend it to others.
Fleming Island, FL
The World War II Foreign War Brides of North East Florida has been holding their meetings on the third Saturday of each month for the past seven months. We would not consider meeting anywhere else.
The service and the food is great!!
Ok to start off with i have ate at like 4 of the cedar river restaurants and never have had a problem! At all!The people who say they are suing them obviously ARE not or he would not be announcing it on the World Wide Web!You can not announce or speak of it!Really i wish people had to work hard at anything and just appreciate that they got served with a smile on there faces! AND NO I DO NOT WORK AT CEDAR RIVER AND NEVER HAVE. I JUST APPRECIATE GREAT,FABULOUS,WONDERFUL SERVICE!
Haven't had the same experience that others have here. We have eaten in there a couple of times but get takeout from there probably once a week. I love their food and have never gotten sick from it. The staff have always tried to be friendly and prompt when waiting on us. We lived here since the 80's and have always found this restaurant to be efficient
and up to standard.
The only complaint I have is they never give me enough of their tartar sauce..it's wonderful.
Don't go there on a Sunday unless you want to wait for an hour after you are seated and place your order to get your food - which is now cold. TERRIBLE service and terrible seating policy. Several customers were actually in a shouting match with the manager on not being seated because some of their party of six had not come in the door yet. Of course the manager won - I guess the customer doesn't matter to them any longer. I've eaten there for many years - but after this I won't go back...
We've been eating at Cedar River Seafood for more than 25 years at locations in Clay, Duval and St. Johns Counties.
From the time you come through the door, the space is warm and inviting at the Middleburg location. The interiors have been redecorated so that you feel like you're in a fishing village, with murals, paintings, local photographs and memorabilia adorning the walls.
Service from time to time is better than others, but overall is very good and we're here for the food!
The food is awesome! From the calimari and gumbo appetizers to their famous seafood platter and all you can eat flounder! Let's not leave out the veggies -- the fried okra, fries and cole slaw are delicious. We're in the south here, and the sweet tea comes in a huge tumbler and is the best around!
On our last few visits, the manager came out from time to time and visited with each table and chatted with the customers.
I know that some of the other reports were very negative -- if you haven't been lately, please revist this location as positive changes have been made and these folks deserve another looky see!
Your taste buds will thank you!
