Guangdong Chinese Restaurant, Lake City

This is and has been one of my most favorite places to eat. The people are very friendly, the food is the best, and it's not a bad price. I really reccomend Guangdong (which is a province in China)

I went with my mother, husband & 13 month old in September of 2008 and this place was pretty good. The food was good, the prices decent and the service was good. The high chair clean. My mother had gone there quite a few times before. When I was visiting my parents again in March of 2009, my mother and I decided to have lunch there as my mother had not been there for some time. We asked for a high chair. The high chair was DISGUSTING. This strap to hold the baby in was filthy and sticky. Just putting that around my 18 month old had me going to wash my hands. We did ask if they had another one and they said no. So one high chair for the entire restaurant? The food was good though. The service was lacking. We had to ask our server more than once about a refill on our iced tea, she seemed to forget 2 times about bringing us our drinks. A 10 minute wait is not acceptable especially in a buffet restaurant where the server is not required to serve food just the drinks and remove plates unless a table requires something else. She seemed to be lost and unsure of what to do. She walked around a lot but did not do much. The tables were left dirty and we ended up having to place our plates on another dirty table when it was apparent that the server was not going to remove them. We were not the only table that did this nor were we the only table to ask for a refill on our drinks. She would walk back into the kitchen area with nothing and then walk back out with nothing. She would walk by empty tables that were dirty and just leave them. I do hope the quality of service goes up, we may try this restaurant again but this last experience left us with a bad feeling. Food is good!!! (That is why I left 2 stars not one) Service is lacking) However, due to the lack of cleanliness it makes me wonder how sanitary it is overall. They NEED to really clean the high chairs, it was disgusting the one they had. I do make exeptions (about service) when it is crowded and if there is an apparent lack of staff. However, it was not that busy the day we had lunch.

Not only the absolute worst Chinese food but the worst resturant food period. Maybe the these good reviews are for the food you order off the menu but the buffet was garbage; tasteless, bland, burned, over-cooked, flavorless, etc. I woke up out of sound sleep with an allergic reaction to something. I'm a big guy and I love food and I take advantages of buffets, but two trips around the buffet tables, two loaded plates, and both plates left with more than half the food leftover. I generously gave an extra star being the place itself has nice ambiance and decoration...I don't know how that place was packed, I've lived all over the country, if you Lake City residents consider this good you ain't had good Chinese.
