Blackwater Inn has been a favorite restaurant of my family for years. The causal but elegant atmosphere just adds to the wonderful food and great service they offer. on our last visit we overheard the table next to us talking about how they had called to see if trigger fish was a special for the day, apparently it wasnt, but the restaurant offered to make it special for them as long as they made reservations ahead of time. Who does that anymore? The restaurant above also has great sandwiches and full bar. I would certainly recommend this restaurant.
Service was horrible. Period. Food was even WORSE! Prime Rib was more fit to resole shoes! It was not even fresh! Grilled quail tasted of freezer burn as was TOUGH and chewy. The prices were about 90% more than what the food was worth. I will NEVER go there again. There are way too many good places to eat in the area to even think of wasting my time and money in that place!
The Blackwater Inn is a great restaurant with friendly curtious service. My favorite is their scallops which are perfectly done each time I order them. My husband and I stop there everytime we are in the area (at least 4 or 5 times a year). I highly recommend it!
Great location and food. This place serves alligator! Some people seem to only come on this site to complain. Ron M, you think $96 is too much for beer and dinner for four??? What planet are you from? You just can't please some people, there is no better restaurant for 50 miles and none with the view and atmosphere. I can't believe these folks are complaining about the price, it's cheaper than Outback. If you are looking for McDonalds prices, go to McDonalds.
Blackwater does not live up to the hype. The food, at best, is average. The catfish is my favorite menu item and as a local, I go there often just for that.
The food is over priced but I suppose they expect you to pay for the view, as the restaurant is sitting on the St. Johns river. (and what a wonderful view it is!)
If you come to the restaurant by boat, which i recommend, it will enhance your visit and might not hurt as bad when you see the bill.
