FABULOUS! We had a great dining experience at Raintree Restaurant. The atmosphere was romantic and relaxing. Our server, Shaun B, was excellent and the food was delicious. We had the Shrimp Castillo for an appetizer and it was very flavorful and plentiful. For entrees, my husband had the paella and I had the eggplant parmigiana. Both dishes were great. For dessert we had the chocolate Dome cake and it was to die for! Previous to our visits I had some reservations about eating at Raintree due to some of the other comments that had been posted, but boy am I glad I decided to take a chance. As for the 15% automatic gratuity: that is how the waiters are paid, every diner should expect to leave a 15% tip anyway and if you don't like the idea of the gratuity then dine at the Dairy Queen next door. This restaurant was everything we needed for a great dining experience.
I agree with the reviews. The quality of food went way down and the prices went way up! We went for 4th of July 2008 and could not wait to go back this year and it was not good. The service was great, the wine selection was terrible. I had a flank steak that was horrible, under cooked and absolutley no flavor. My sweetie had the Seafood medley platter that was bland to say the least and the portions were so small. We will not go back again! Dinner was so over priced we cut our losses and did not order dessert knowing we would only be more unsatisfied.
Too bad so sad they had a good thing going but soemthing happened along the way. Perhaps take a look at the their management for the answer?????
I've been here a few times and this place really needs to some different management or something. Our service was very poor and the food took forever to come. When it did come, it was even hot. I was being treated for my birthday so I didn't say anything negative at the time. I think the kitchen just can't handle it when it gets crowded. I ONLY would entertain going back one more time if it was an off-peak night but I think we are all going to cut our loses and go elsewhere. It used to be so good.
We went to what we thought was a 5 star upscale restaurant. The food was good , but the service was mediocre.
Then they bring your bill with the total in about 16pt font and the rest in 8pt so you don't pick up on the scam.
Oh, it's there alright, in the very fine print on the bottom of the menu hidden somewhere under the side dishes and salad dressing.
Yes, I know there are a lot of cheapskates out there who don't tip. However, this was not a Wendy's. If you're good, there is no reason to hide the tip in the bill.
By the way, don't expect any integrity from the waiters. Ours practically ran and hid after he pocketed a $32 tip on an $82 bill.
Yes, Yes, shame on me for not paying attention. I guess I'm accustomed to dining at respectable and reputable places.
Bottom line, do you want to eat at a place that has to hide the tip in the bill and then takes advantage of it when you don't notice.
Ok ambiance. Overall has gone downhill the last few years. Staff is rude and when in the heck are restaurants that want to be up-scale have a dress code? They want to charge high prices for food and drink and have someone next to me in cut offs and flip flops. Go to the Cordova or Fiddlers. Cordova is expensive but at least a dress code of sorts.
