We have gone to this authentic British pub many times over the past seven years and we absolutely love it! You can pretty much go to any restaurant and find a prim and proper and usually unapproachable proprietor and if that is what you are looking for, go ahead and skip this place. Anne and her staff are very friendly and humorous...which most of us appreciate at the end of a long week or day. The food is delicious, portions are large and the prices are extremely reasonable. My favorite characteristic lies within the ambiance...low lighting, nice music, laughter and just relaxing. We highly recommend this establishment!!!!
Being from England, I am a serious about authentic british food. This is the best place for some awesome Steak and Kidney pie, best fish and chips other than my own (real thing) good ale, friendly service, I highly recommend this restaurant. I give it five Stars
I've been visiting the Kings Head now and then since it was first established. The ale is served properly and at the exact temperature that it was meant to be served, not like most taverns that serve Guiness, etc. way too cold. I'm not a big drinker, but I enjoy a good ale now and then. You won't find it any better then at the Kings Head. Delicious!
I never felt a need to write a review before, however, I think that The Kings Head British Pub is so delightful that I need to spread the word. My husband had the Fish and Chips and I had the Chicken and mushroom pie, we were both very happy with the food and the EXCELLENT service. The best part of all is the authentic atmosphere of the pub, which made Ron and I very nostalgic for the ten years that we lived in England. We will be coming back!!!!
The Daytona Chapter of the Harley Owners Group brought 22 riders to the Kings Head on April 28th and received a warm welcome, excellent service and a variety of excellent Bristish food. Everyone was happy with the attmosphere, attentiveness of the wait staff and the quality and portions of the food. We plan to schedule another ride or more in the future. I'ts a unique experience for Florida restaurants.
My husband and I went to Kings Head British Pub today and enjoyed it very much! I recommend their fish and chips very highly. The fish is fresh and has a great crunchy, crispy, batter. The steak fries are great as well. It was also suggested to try a soup of the day which was wonderful, a lamb broth base with fresh veggies, yummy! The service was good and the owner was very pleasant...I guess the other guy had a bad day.
Having visited the pub now for about 20 times over the last 2 years particularly for the good food, and because my hubby is British and he likes the authentic foods...I felt it time to write a review regarding the service. The staff for the most part are friendly and do a decent job even when busy and I have spent the last three new years eve celebrations there celebrating british time NYE, HOWEVER...and this is a HUGE howeve! The OWNER, who is an elderly lady trying to hang on to her youth with green and red colored hair and short mini skirts, is a VERY rude and arrogant person. Twice before we had difficulties with her being rude and adding an 18% gratuity without permission to the credit card bill, refusing to slide tables together even when others before us pushed tables together and just downright rude in conversation...but this last time was the last straw. Sat. Evening, Oct 11, 2008, we dined in house, myself, my husband and my mother. We all had an appetizer and a main course and a few drinks, and one dessert to go. The first thing we noticed is that the overall prices have risen AGAIN. But we have always enjoyed the food, so what recourse to we have? When the check arrived, it was 71 dollars. We gave the waitress 80.00...seeing as the food portion was 50 dollars, that was an overall 13 percent tip but a nearly 20 percent tip on the food...and WHO pays for a tip on food to go??? The OWNER came to our table, and said, you paid 80.00...and my husband said yes...and she said on a 71 tab...and we said yes, and she said well that is not enough tip. EXCUSE ME???? Isn't a tip at the discretion of the giver? Isn't it OPTIONAL? She insisted we pay more and we said well that is all you are going to get. We were so offended. Mind you, we drive from Charleston SC to St. Augustine Fla in order to visit this pub. So, what recourse do we even have? Customer service is getting worse every visit. We can either refuse to go there again, and not enjoy the good food and who does that hurt? No one except us. We can tell others to stay away due to rudeness and to warn them to check their credit cards for added charges...and to beware if you don't leave a very high tip to be approached demandingly for more money...but what good does that do anyway? What I'd like to know is, what would some of YOU have done and how would that situation have made you feel if you were approached at your table by the owner demanding more tip monies? Am I being unrealistic? Best regards.
