What happened ? Obviously they changed the menu, higher prices, smaller portions and the food made me crave Crystals. Very disappointed, sent friend and family whom came to visit to this restaurant, telling them how great it was. Went there myself recently, left very frustrated knowing I had to go home and call everyone to apologize to.
Had high hopes for this place but found it very average. Interesting decor, old Florida seafood restaurant, but very ordinary in offerings, presentation and taste. There's got to be a better seafood restaurant on this island!
The food here wasn't bad, but the atmosphere was pretty terrible. We had guests visiting so we were hoping to take them somewhere tasteful. We hadn't been there before so we tried it, but I doubt we will ever return. The tables are covered with paper place mats, and the menus are DIRTY, paper menus. Instead of bringing out bread or rolls before the meal, they bring out crackers (individually wrapped, mostly broken) and a plastic cup of cheese spread. Not what you would expect at a restaurant with meals of this price. OH, and if you are sharing a meal, they charge you an extra $2.00!!! And they don't even split the meal in the kitchen, they just bring out an extra plate. I detest places that charge extra for splitting because my husband and I always split a meal, but we also get a couple appetizers and most likely a dessert in a addition to our meal. This way we get to have more variety.
We started off with a blooming onion, it was great (very similar to that at the Outback). We all had salads which were also good. For our entree we got the stuffed fish (amelia). It was just OK, nothing I would rave about. The new potatoes had a funny taste to them. Also came with 2 cold hush puppies. My parents got the fried shrimp. They were also good...but it's hard to mess that up. Overpriced I thought at $18. I just don't see any reason why I would go back to this restaurant.
Seafood platter was tasteless, except for the abundance of paprika! All food was barely warm. Salad only adequate! Bread was served cold, butter in small carry-out type packets like found at drive-thru restaurants. Very, very overpriced! Service barely adequate.
I'm 44-years-old and have been eating at the Marina Restaurant since I was a child and we vacationed in Fernandina Beach every year. It was always cozy, friendly and delicious. Glad they are still kicking.
We took our aunt here for her 90th birthday.
Auntie was treated as royality ,as were we.
It is a small, intimate, cozy European type restaurant. Attention to details in all areas. Tables are NOT on top of each other. It is quiet, soft music. Decor is as a museum. The food? Absolutley the best.
Their shrimp are the best I'd ever eaten-ever! HIGHLY RECOMMENDED !
