Hunter's Pub and Steakhouse
This amazing little Steakhouse opened in "1998". Since the opening of it's doors it has become "THE" landmark in Hamilton Ga. Voted #1 Steakhouse year after year! Known not only for it's hand cut steaks, they also run wonderful daily fresh seafood specials. Atmosphere is relaxed, friendly, and service is great! Don't leave without trying one of the homemade desserts (I recommend the peanut butter pie). If great food and service is what you are looking for, you want be disappointed!
I have yet to try Hunter's Pub, but I've heard great things! They also have another location actually in Columbus called Mark's, and yes the steaks are fabulous!! I plan to go to the Pub, because that's his first place and offer many more specials, but if u don't want to put in the drive to Hamilton, then Mark's is their other place
great steaks. some of the best I've eaten anywhere. Salads were average, plastic cups and paper napkins were out of character for this price range and a downside. Desserts are great. Overall, a great place to eat but don't expect atmosphere or a fine china setting.
The first time I ate at Hunters Pub, I had ask a local in Columbus, where was the one place that we wanted to eat while we were there? He said if we didnt mind a little drive, Hunters Pub. The guy that was with me travels constantly all over the US and eats steak in some of the finest steak houses. He stated that it was by far the best steak he had ever had. A year later I took another associate of mine who is a steak afficianado, he also stated it was the best steak he had ever experienced. Both times that I have been there, I have seen high end automobiles littering the grounds around the place...no big signs or bilboards....the best places don't have to brag or beg. Be sure to try the Deep Fried Lobster...Excellent.... Well I tell everyone I know traveling to Columbus that they have to try Hunters Pub....If your looking for a frilly Chic restaurant....Go find a Ruth Chris....If you want Great Food in a Southern setting that is meant to be comfortable and casual....your in the right place...Laid back and Great Food....let yourself be human and foret trying to impress....Just Wonderful!
Recently was at Callaway Gardens and stumbled across Hunters Pub. Some of the best food I ever tasted, took several clients there as well. The portions were large, the food cooked exactly to order and the service was prompt.
The building was cinder block in the middle of nowhere. Inside there were attempts to cover the wall with pictures and letters from sports stars and political figures. Tables were non descript but comfortable. There is only one bathroom and it is labeled outhouse (appropo).
Would go there again because it was the best steak I had in quite sometime.
I was in town on business with 6 other people from various parts of the US and Canada when our driver took us to Hunters Pub for dinner on a Wednesday night. DO NOT be put off by the outside appearance! Or the homey southern hole-in-the-wall interior! The food is incredible! We started off with the lobster tails which is definantly a must have. As for our entrees, six of us had one of the various cuts of steak and the seventh had the special which was a grilled halibut steak. The food was so good, no one spoke for quite awhile.... we were busy eating! The portions are huge and they definantly cook to order. I ordered my ribeye still mooing (very rare) and that is exactly what I got. Usually I end up with medium rare to medium when going to other steak houses, but Hunters Pub got it just the way I would cook it at home. Good job guys!!! They also have a fairly good wine selection that will suit all taste. The desserts were delicious, but we barely had room left to eat them. So, like I said....You better come Hungry!!!
It is hard to believe that the Callaway Gardens were created in 1952 for the sole purpose of protecting the
endangered flower shrub, azalea. Today this 13,000 acre (5,260 hectares) space is Georgia's prime tourist attraction drawing over 75,000 ...
