I really love the food at this Korean restaurant. I have even had some of my Korean friends tell me that their food tastes better than the Korean food that they have had back in Korea. I think the food is awesome. I like to go during lunch time because they have some great lunch specials. Most of their lunches specialsare around $6.95 and you get a lot of food. The location could be better but the food is awesome.
This place is kind of tucked back into a shopping center, in its hayday you can tell this area was the happenin' place. It is truly worth it to go here, the food is always at its best, and the people are friendly. I recommend Bulgogi and kimbap. I also recommend going during lunch hours, because you get a lot of food for a reasonable price. I go here as often as I can.
I have been going to Golden Chopstick since it opened in 1972. It has wonderful food and great service. I have friends from all over the country who when they visit one of the first things on their list of things to do is go to Golden Chopsticks to eat. The only problem I have with them is I wished they had a couple more locations so I wouldn't have to go to the other side of town.
From the outside this place looked oddly-in-place. St. Mary's Road is a little south for me...you could say it blends in nicely. That was just on driveup alone.
Without going bingo, bango over the outside appearance, just remember to take an extra couple of people with you if it's a litle too late in the evening, but be prepared when you enter from a complete 360. We stepped in and were immediatly greeted by the owners.
A pleasant couple who attended us at the drop of a hat, which was odd because there were several other customers in the place. They managed to high-tail it from each table to the next with ease. Bulgolgi and rice was the 'HEAT!' (no not spicy...that means it was awesome for you...oh, nevermind) Anyhoot, great dish, but the kimchi was lacking. The presense just wasn't there. When you eat kimchi, you can tell right away if it's good or bad...usually two categories. Not good. Yaki-mandu was what you would expect-you can't compare it to mandu in korea, but it's good.
My wife asked for some extra sides and they brought post-haste, which was pretty darn fast. GREAT SERVICE!!! The service set itself apart from other restaurants. The food was tasty and we left there both wondering when we would come back.
