Our first experience with Sonny's was off Interstate 75 in Gainesville, Fla. It was wonderful. Friendly service and delicious food, wonderful atmosphere. Of course, on our way back we looked for a Sonny's along the highway. Unfortunately, we turned off at Lake Park. Ga. What a difference. The instant we drove into the lot we noticed the parking lot was not even partially full though it was high noon. Not a good sign. I'll have to compress the experience by saying that this restaurant was the exact opposite, as bad as the other Sonny's was good. The barbecue was dry, the service lackadaisical, and the atmosphere depressing. If you go that way, bypass Lake Park, Ga. and go to the Gainesville Sonny's for a great experience.
We've tried this place two different times because we live closest to this location. Both times our orders were take out and maybe this is the problem, I'm not sure, but both times our orders were not right. Either we were missing something or it wasn't what we ordered. The baby back ribs were dry and just not meaty at all. I was disappointed because I've eaten at other Sonny's and the food was really good and so was the service. I won't be back to this location again.
