Vinnie Van Go Go's
Year after year, the New York style pizza at Vinnie Van Go Go's is voted best in Savannah. Offered whole or by the slice, the pizza here has a crisp, flavorful crust and can be piled high with your choice of fresh toppings. Indoor seating includes a few small tables and a counter with tall stools, but the best place to sit is outside on the patio. Even in colder weather, space heaters warm the outsides of patrons, while pizza warms the insides. Beer and wine available. Cash only.
I never really notice difference between pizzas until I left my hometown and travelled. I grew up in Virginia and I had pizzas from the normal chains. I went to SCAD in GA and fell in love and frequented Vinnie's. After I graduated, I moved to L.A. and had pizzas served in various ways(oven and grilled). My work requires me to travel so I had a chance to try Chicago's deep dish pizza, NYC's pizzas, and pizza from Boston. I tried different areas of each city to make sure it wasn't a certain place. NYC came close to making a good pizza, but Vinnie's topped them all.
I just visited Savannah last weekend and the first place I went was Vinnie's Van Go Go. Again, the pizza was awesome like I last remembered. The atmosphere is still so friendly. I always enjoyed just sitting in the patio, sipping my ice tea and munching on my pizza. I highly recommend if you are ever in Savannah or even passing by the city, stop at Vinnie's, grab a slice, and enjoy.
I'm from Long Island, New York, grew up on authenthic italian style fresh pizza. Vinnie Van GoGos has the best Pizza in Savannah ( I live here), large slices with fresh toppings, I always order sausage and anchovies, 2 slices and nice cold beer. I dont wait in line, just walk right in, get a seat at the counter and order- best if you are by yourself or another person. If in a larger group, you must wait for a table. I'm there most Sundays wearing my flip flops and chillin' like I'm a rich elite local...but just a middle class fellow with maxed out credit cards...cash only at Vinnies...PIZZA!!..
Excellent pizza. Great selection of toppings but we went with the usual pepperoni pizza because our kids wanted pepperoni. Very reasonably priced and delicious. The spinach was average and not worth the money, though. Highly recommed it. It will not disappoint you.
