Let s start with the fact that we wanted our experience at Jazz d to be awesome. They came highly recommended by friends and we selected them as a venue for our wedding night. Perhaps our expectations were too high. For how nice it looks, you expect Jazz d to be upscale. The food and drinks (although priced at an upscale level) are not quite up to par. The food was good at best and the drinks were watered down. Prior to our wedding we went to Jazz d to try them out with friends. The drinks were tasty yet weak. The service was very slow. The food was good but not all it had been hyped up to be. We decided to give them another chance as we enjoyed the atmosphere with the live music and thought it would make a fun place to hold post wedding festivities. When we made arrangements for our wedding we were told to be sure we were there at 9 and not late. On the night of our wedding we showed up before 9 and ended up having to wait about 45 minutes to be seated in the small room we had reserved for our wedding party. It was embarrassing. Our guests wanted to know why we were having to wait. I didn t have a good answer. The hostess simply stated that there were still diners in our area that had eaten there prior to nine and were finished eating but hadn t left and they should be finishing up soon so we had to wait. It was ridiculous. They weren t even apologetic. When we were finally seated we had one waiter for 12 people and it took a long time just to get our first round of drinks. When it came time for our cake (which we had prearranged with them) we physically had to track down our waiter from in the kitchen to bring it to us and follow through with our requests. After we had the cake the waiter did not return the rest of the evening to check on us, see if we needed drinks or anything. We had to physically track him down again just to get the bill. The service was so bad that we ended up sending about half of our guests home early because they were bored and there was no one waiting on us. Completely ridiculous! I had my heart set on this place because I thought with the live music and ambiance it would be perfect. Even the live music was a let down as the musicians took very frequent breaks for long periods of time playing prerecorded music instead. Completely appalled by this place and will never return! Save your money!!
We just came back from our vacation in Savannah. We really enjoyed this place. Service was good as was the Music. Most important the Tapas were very good as was the wine selection. This is a must stop in you are in Savannah and like Jazz and Tapas and great wine. We would go back. I would rate this a B+ overall.
the food was mediocre at best, over priced for what was given, and the service underwelming. After arriving 10 minutes early for our party of 8 reservation, our server notified us that there was another large party after ours and that we needed to be done eating before a certain time. We couldn't believe how rude she was, for those that truly enjoy good food I would not recommend this establishment.
My husband and I have been here several times. We love it!! We always get the Tapas for two and are completely stuffed when we leave. The atmosphere is fabulous too. Sometimes it can be just a little loud...depending on where you sit. I highly recommend this restaurant.
We came for the blues and martinis, and enjoyed both. The fare, however, was an incredible surprise. Tappas for Two = lots and lots of great unique tappas offerings (4), soups/salads (2), dessert (2), and coffee (yes x 2), all for a very reasonable price while surrounded by an upscale quality crowd. This is a must go.
I have to say, this has to be the BEST place in Savannah for a wonderful gourmet meal...with GREAT ambience, and a venue to make even those who don't appreciate jazz and blues want to keep going back! Thursday nights, Trae Gurdy is there, and its like going back in time to listen to a young Frank Sinatra! The food while being almost too beautiful to eat, has to be the best I've found so far in Savannah! Their She Crab Stew is thick, rich with big clumps of crab and a wonderful appetizer for the main courses. My favorite entree would have to be the Potato Fritata with Fig Chutney...absolutely THE best! And for dessert, if you're fortunate enough to land there on the night the chef decides to serve the Chocolate Bomb, don't miss out on it! All in all, one of the most wonderful places in Savannah, and somewhere you do NOT want to miss!
This place is definately the best place to take a date for a special evening. The ambience is extraordinary! The food is wonderful and the staff is knowledgeable, helpful and extremely friendly! With the smooth Jazz playing in the background the evening seems to flow endlessly! You will not be disappointed!
