Come, Eat...Drink...and Relax Your Soul . Alligator Soul is a beautiful unpretentious fine dining restaurant. We offer a full bar, lounge with Romantic fireplace where guests can relax and have a cocktail before dinner or dessert after dinner. Alligator Soul s credo: From the moment you walk in the door, until the moment you leave...it's all about you! We take pride in the care we give to each of our guests, the ambiance we provide, in addition to the upmost quality and value we place with every dish we make. Whether you have dietary allergic restrictions, or you choose a vegetarian or vegan diet, we can accommodate your needs.
We were set for a great evening out and decided to go to Alligator Soul based on a past experience my daughter had there. We were about 10 minutes early for our reservation time but were seated promptly. Our waiter seemed nervous and had to refer to his notes multiple times when we interrupted his monologue with questions, not a good sign in a restaurant of this caliber. They really push the drinks and that s OK, but more attention to our order would have made things turn out better. We did order drinks with our appetizers and wine with dinner. Two of the 4 plates ordered were at least cooked as requested. My son-in-law had the buffalo, very tender but under whelming as taste goes. I ordered the Elk and it was great, but even at market price I didn t expect 40 bucks. My wife order duck and my daughter ordered lambchops. The lamb was ordered medium rare and the duck was ordered medium well. Somehow the cooking instructions were switched. The lamb was well done and the duck was very much under done for my wife, and not the way she ordered it. Oh what happened to the wine? It didn t show up until we were half through our meal so I told them to forget it at that point. This could have been a great dinner, but I would consider it a failure with the dinners served improperly and a price tag over 300.00 I d rate this experience mediocre at best.
I left my first review up so that everyone would know that it was me, the #$%$ when I retract my comments. So I was working at alligator soul and I got sick while at work and I thought it was the beef tips that I had eaten there while working, but come to find out that was not the case! I caught a virus, I feel like the biggest A hole there is. But to be truthful about it when it first happened I didn t think it was the food there then because anyone who works there knows chef Chris and chef mac and chef Charles makes you fallow all the health codes so much until it gets on your nerves sometimes. So why did I write a bad review because I m an ( #$%$) and was just mad. And come to find out about my little one day pay that I thought I didn t get paid, wrong again instead of direct deposit they just cut a check that I never went to get. So all these lies I wrote was so uncalled for if I had of just acted like a man and went and talked with the owner Maureen Craig, or any one of the chef s this would have never happened. See why I say I m such a A HOLE? Look anyone who s ever been there know how clean the place is and how great the food is, and the people there are not to shabby either, and to you guys who have never been there yet what are you waiting for the rating on the place is 4.5 out of 5 stars need I say more. i AM SO SORRY GUYS.. please forgive me. Theo.
I knew that I was in for something special from the moment I walked in the door. We were greeted by a friendly staff that clearly intended to make the experience memorable.
Seven of us ordered the Chef's Tasting: 6 courses paired with wine. A significant part of the experience of the meal is the anticipation of what will come next, of not knowing. We were in good hands.
The taste and presentation of all the dishes were exquisite as was expected. They were creative without being overly so. The dishes complimented each other and made sense. They were technically correct; meats, pastas and vegetables were not over or under cooked. Service was exemplary. Timing in all aspects was absolutely perfect. The wine pairings were well chosen. The wine complemented the food and never stole the show.
Only a few minor problems. The order of two of the dishes could have been reversed. A rich pork belly and scallop was followed by a delicate grouper that was overpowered by the previous dish. Later, there was a tardy steak knife. If fresh flatware is not provided for each course, a small rectangular plate to set the utensils to be reused is preferred over the tablecloth.
The ambience was distinguished, but not pretentious.
The meal was priced fairly.
The lavatory held up to my high standards.
I was impressed with the staff. There were professional, genuine and worked as a team. A visit to the table by the owner was enjoyed and comfortable.
No one dish stood way above the others, nor should it have. The whole experience is what I will remember.
This was among the best dining experiences I've had.
My high expectations were met (and on a Wednesday).
What an amazing experience! A group of my friends decided to do something extra special on one of the nights we were visiting Savannah for a bachelorette weekend. We went in knowing that it would be pricey, so that wasn't an issue for our group. We were given a private room with a complimentary amuse bouche from the chef. The food was delicious and the portions were larger than I typically receive in a fine dining setting. After dinner they had a special presentation for the bride-to-be. The owner also came by to ensure that we were pleased with the meal. Everyone seemed to be genuinely glad to have us at their establishment. If all of this wasn't enough they shipped me something that I accidentally left at the restaurant. We fell in love with the food and the people.
This is not a child friendly place to visit because it is fine dining. My family and I went in and could not believe how expensive. The lowest price meal was around $35, which is not for typical families budgets. We had the fried green tomatoes, which were overpriced and not served southern Georgia style. It was extemely spicy and more like Louisiana style and not all that great. We purchased two plates at $10 each and spent as much as we should spend on an entire meal for a family of 3. Just want to warn others about the price of this restaurant. The environment was very nice but just not the prices.
