Alligator Soul, Savannah

Outstanding. My wife and I enjoyed an excellent meal, a drink each, and tremendous service for under $100. The food was well presented and quite tasty. Will go again next time I am in Savannah.

I knew that I was in for something special from the moment I walked in the door. We were greeted by a friendly staff that clearly intended to make the experience memorable. Seven of us ordered the Chef's Tasting: 6 courses paired with wine. A significant part of the experience of the meal is the anticipation of what will come next, of not knowing. We were in good hands. The taste and presentation of all the dishes were exquisite as was expected. They were creative without being overly so. The dishes complimented each other and made sense. They were technically correct; meats, pastas and vegetables were not over or under cooked. Service was exemplary. Timing in all aspects was absolutely perfect. The wine pairings were well chosen. The wine complemented the food and never stole the show. Only a few minor problems. The order of two of the dishes could have been reversed. A rich pork belly and scallop was followed by a delicate grouper that was overpowered by the previous dish. Later, there was a tardy steak knife. If fresh flatware is not provided for each course, a small rectangular plate to set the utensils to be reused is preferred over the tablecloth. The ambience was distinguished, but not pretentious. The meal was priced fairly. The lavatory held up to my high standards. I was impressed with the staff. There were professional, genuine and worked as a team. A visit to the table by the owner was enjoyed and comfortable. No one dish stood way above the others, nor should it have. The whole experience is what I will remember. This was among the best dining experiences I've had. My high expectations were met (and on a Wednesday).

What an amazing experience! A group of my friends decided to do something extra special on one of the nights we were visiting Savannah for a bachelorette weekend. We went in knowing that it would be pricey, so that wasn't an issue for our group. We were given a private room with a complimentary amuse bouche from the chef. The food was delicious and the portions were larger than I typically receive in a fine dining setting. After dinner they had a special presentation for the bride-to-be. The owner also came by to ensure that we were pleased with the meal. Everyone seemed to be genuinely glad to have us at their establishment. If all of this wasn't enough they shipped me something that I accidentally left at the restaurant. We fell in love with the food and the people.

This was one of the most fun dining experiences I have ever had. True, a bit on the pricey side, but the service and atmosphere was great. I thought the food was terrific.

This is not a child friendly place to visit because it is fine dining. My family and I went in and could not believe how expensive. The lowest price meal was around $35, which is not for typical families budgets. We had the fried green tomatoes, which were overpriced and not served southern Georgia style. It was extemely spicy and more like Louisiana style and not all that great. We purchased two plates at $10 each and spent as much as we should spend on an entire meal for a family of 3. Just want to warn others about the price of this restaurant. The environment was very nice but just not the prices.
