Calvert's Restaurant, Augusta

We had heard great things about this place, but mainly went because we were given a gift certificate. The smell when you walk through the door was almost enough to make me want to turn around and walk out. It smells like a musty old great-grandmother's house with moth balls. The decor was severely lacking too for a place that is considered one of Augusta's most pristine and upscale dining experience. My husband enjoyed his lamb chops but the rest of our meal, including salads, appetizers, and dessert was very unimpressive in taste, especially for the expensive price.

Very romantic and delish! The early bird special is the way to go here. The food is wonderful, the service is outstanding! This is not a place for children. I took my 2 year old with us for my mother's birthday celebration and they couldn't find their highchair! It took them 10 minutes to find the chair part and another 10 to find the tray to go on it! I was kind of embarrased that my child is the first child they've seen in years but they were really nice about it and they welcomed her!

Never even made it through the door. I called to make a reservation and the person on the line was incredibly rude. I was told with a tone of frustration, "We are fully booked. Maybe next time. Goodbye." There was no pretense to offer another day or be accommodating in the least. I have always heard wonderful things about the food and maybe that allows them to be ill-mannered, but eventually poor customer service will catch up with you.

My Husband and I celebrated our 9th anniversary at Calverts. We arrived for our 8:15 res. didn't get seated until 9:00.We were informed that there were four tables that just wouldn't leave.(this is certainly a place where you want to linger!!!)Thankfully during our wait time the staff was very attentive. Drinks and appz. to keep us happy. Once we got our table Kim (our server)was knowledgable of specials,efficiant, and unintursive. Both Owners personally came to our table to ensure our happiness.This was the most memorable evening.Calverts is elegant in a subdued way, they are not the least bit snobby. The food for a special occassion is reasonably priced. Calverts is the place I'll be recommending to all my friends and family!!!!

Service was good, food was excellent, right down to the coffee and dessert. Very cozy atmosphere, great for a special occasion with your special someone. Experience was excellent overall.

I have enjoyed many meals in this restaurant and I can never remember being disappointed by any of them. If you have the opportunity to visit them it will be a highlight of your visit to Augusta. A real value is the Sunset Special. Get there early and have a great meal at a price you won't believe.

Calvert's was recently voted as Augusta's most romantic dining establishment. Located on highland avenue you will want to schedule calvert's for that proposal, anniversary, or any special occasion you want to celebrate. They are attentive but not overly so. Food is fantastic! They are open monday thru saturday in the evenings. They do however suggest you make reservations

Calvert's is great! It is sad that all people can not experience the finer things in life. The average family can not afford to eat there for a celebration. Everyone just once in their life should experience a fine resturant to dine in. The food is wonderful, the atmosphere can fit any clam and relaxing mood that you want it to be, it can take you a way! This place leaves an impression. When music is there, it takes the mood to a diffrent level.
